Same story... just pass over the middle 5-10 yards against Seattle. None of their linebackers can cover and the safeties are all playing DEEP zones.
This is the fundamental problem with this defense.

They play it safe defensively, give up a ton of yards and time of possession with the hope that they either force a turnover or hold the offense to a FG in the red zone.

Defense just can't get off the field this season. This is why I don't look at just points allowed for a defense. There's a reason Seattle has lost the TOP battle almost all year.... and it's because Seattle gives up 90 yard drives routinely on defense, it just takes 8+ minutes every time.

Oh and to add to this:

They justify this philosophy by the fact that the Hawks are 8th in the NFL in points allowed. Their tunnel vision fails to realize that's a product of opposing offenses not getting a ton of drives because they eat up a ton of clock while they're on the field.

I hate when fans just look at points allowed. Points allowed ya top 10 or whatever great.. yards allowed, DEAD Last (or they were for quite some time). That's a problem. Great, your redzone D tightens up, is there a reason the fuckin' rest of the time it's not?

And now Jordyn Reed has more tackles than any Seahawk in a season in team history

Easier to play a short field.

It puts more pressure on the offense because they're not going to get many opportunities to get on the field.

19 play 66 yards 10:41 ran off the clock.

But hey! At least we only gave up a field goal! Right???

Yep, this is why when people are saying, "The Hawks D is ranked top 10!" I basically set them to 'ignore' in my mind. Almost a FULL quarter of TOP... complete with 3rd and 14 and two 4th down conversions... lol.... yah, top 10 D....

YAH! I MEAN POINTS ALLOWED IS ALL THAT MATTERS AND DEFINES A DEFENSE! Ken Norton DC MVP, fire Carroll and make him our HC!

Cards are blitzing 7 against a play action, no wonder there's no time.

Only good thing about this season ending today is I won't have to start drinking at 1pm on Sundays.

Although I'm sure I'll find some other excuse to do so.
