Every year it's different. If the Pats shut down the Fabulous Falcons will you consider them elite? Or will the narrative be: "Atlanta offense just did not play well, they beat themselves," blah, blah
If Atlanta plays average they'll score 30+. If they play poorly they'll score 24-28. If they play well they're dropping 38+. There are no other statistically viable possibilities unless there are injuries involved OR unless NE decides to abandon philosophy and somehow creates 5 or 6 sacks

Funny, problem is statistics reflect the past, they do not predict the future.

They reflect probable outcomes for the future. U mean it's theoretical possible Atlanta wins 65-0 too but I like to deal on likelihood. The likelihood given both teams defensive efficiencies and both teams offensive output is a game played in the 30s

I think this will be an excellent game through and through. Pats get #5.

If the Falcons play poorly, they'll score less then 17pts. There's a reason why the Pats gave up less then 15 a game. Their D is pretty good and you've completely underestimated them.

No its really not. Their ppg allowed is a function of playing the 32nd ranked schedule and facing a horrendous line u of QBS. I'd say NE is a slightly above average D and that's barely. Their adjusted stats are mediocre at best although they are trending up slightly

To further my point. If you look at the QBS the Pats played this year and just look at the guys you could now make a case for being even average or above you get Taylor, Palmer, Flacco, Palmer, Dalton, Wilson, Tannehill. That constitutes 7 of the Pats 16 games. In those 7 games NE allowed nearly 23 ppg which is still ok but nowhere near elite and not even really good and none of those 7 games played came vs a team with anywhere near the offensive capability of Atlanta. Yes they beat up on Jones, Kessler, Kaepernick, Petty, Fitzpatrick, Goff/Keenum, Moore, Osweiler, Siemian etc but that's relative as it does not take a good defense to do that.

True dat but he has found love on the Hoop, so I'm happy for him. Partner is a SD fan, that's why you switch teams from Tenn or vice-versa. He sent me a Xmas card / HD is on the left

Wasn't the Seahawks D supposed to be pretty good?

The Seahawks defense is substantially better than the Pats. 5th ranked to 16th ranked

The Falcons aren't gonna get a lot of respect until they beat the Pats. Some have real reasons, but most just have "It's the Patriots, they're gonna win."

Personally, I was far more nervous about the Packers game than I am for the SB.

I'm more nervous for this one. Despite the Pats D being HUGELY overrated it's still better than the Packers was and I respect Brady a ton. Plus NE is healthy. I just think it's comical how people legitimately think this is a great D New England is sporting when even a cursory look tells you it's pretty average. It'll become abundantly clear by about 730 CST when Atlanta has 20+ at halftime

I got caught up in that lame ass run the table statement made by Rodgers, and then how they pulled one out of their ass against Dallas, I was nervous. It ended pretty quickly after kickoff though.

I really expect a close game, but predicting 45-27 Falcons seems to get the Pats fans riled up, so that's what I'm sticking with on here.

Negative. Play average against new england in the playoffs and you most certainly aren't scoring 30+, you are incredibly delusional about atlanta's prospects in this game.

I think it'll be close. New England has a legit offense.
