Coaches who drink and have personal lives in the tank aren't all that unusual. Dennis Erickson comes quickly to mind. He was a hell of a coach, but his personal life was an alcoholic hazy mess. He went through a divorce and proceeded to pour himself into a bottle. One can hide an addiction in some places but not in LA at a high profile job like this one. Too many eyes, too many pictures, too many stories out there already.

And, besides, no one is willing to cover up a guy who loses an "easy" one on national TV.
