You very well may be right. Let's say it is $52M for `16 & `17 franchise costs. Adding in about $1.5M for this year that turns into $53 or $54M over 3 years. Still a bargain @ $18M per year.
It would be in RW's better interest to sign a deal he may not be in love with.

It would be better for Wilson to let the franchise tag play out. At that point, he will still only be 29 & in line for an even bigger 6/7 year contract.

To me, it would just be better to pay him $18-20 mil aav over 6 years with $25 mil in signing bonus & about $45 mil guaranteed now, rather than letting this play out.

The thing is both camps ( Seahawks and Russell Wilson) are so tight lipped about the numbers, that we just have no idea what is being tossed around $ wise.

I agree. We have no idea what the real numbers are. But with Wilson tweeting cryptic messages, it seems he is not happy with the negotiations.

I think the Seahawks are probably trying to manipulate the salary cap by including his 2015 year in the new contract & going with a shorter contract. Wilson is probably asking for 6-7 years beyond 2015. This is probably where the stalemate is

Could be. I've been all over the map guessing myself.

Wait, did someone read that tweet and think it had something to do with his negotiations? :pound:

Um, read his shit a bit more. He makes silly posts every day that are bible verses, parts of songs, general inspiration, etc. Isn't give me love or nothing at all from a bryan adams song?

HELLO -

As for the negotiations itself, anyone who don't believe a deal will be struck shortly before preseason doesn't know how these things work. It will end up something near 4y/100m (added to this last year of his rookie contract that's 20m/yr over the 5 years).

The Seahawks have the wealthiest owner in the NFL and they are playing hardball with Wilson.

All teams have to abide by the same cap space limit. Doesn't matter how rich your owner is.

Why piss off your franchise QB? The Seahawks would be wise to keep him happy if they want a winning franchise.
I'm sure those who make the big bux decisions have no interest in pissing off our QB.
looking at Romo's contract, especially the guaranteed $, was it in Dallas` best interest to make that deal with Tony? Or how about Chicago's deal with Jay? Neither one could be traded for a bag of doughnuts due to their contract.

Tony Romo was in the running for MVP last season so it was a good signing. Cutler on the other hand is a train wreck.

Trouble in paradise

New England slammed the Seahags window of opportunity shut last February and Little Rusty probably wants to move on to a team that has a defense strong enough to be able to carry him to more wins. By the same token, the Hags don't want to commit to a midget that needs to rely on Peyton Manning shitting his pants (again) and circus catches to be competitive in the SB.

This saga is breaking my heart.

Agreed that Romo>Cutler, but IIRC Tony has a monster sized dead cap hit due to a $55M guarantee if he can't keep playing. Very risky.

Or the Cardinals in 2017 when Palmer retires. Seahawk fans would hate that.

Better get yourself a killer RB by then or you will be looking at the second coming of Jake Plummer.

Just a little better health on our D would have busted your boys in half. It is well known that Seattle lost the game as opposed to NE winning it. Don't believe me though. Have Rock start a poll thread.

The Bears would have been better trading Cutler when he had some value. Now they are stuck with him and that contract.

The pathetic injury excuses coming from the nuevo NFL fan base in Starbucks land is amusing.

You're.

do the public schools in Seattle suck as much as the football team?
My bad. I should have been more careful. I know what a stickler you are for proper English. I didn't go to schools here in Seattle, not that it matters.

Yeah, I know. If you weren't so focused on deflating things you should have known the cheater would have thrown 4 ints in the SB if the LOB wasn't broken.
Anyway Rex, more power to ya.
