I disagree and hold no grudges toward Gronk for anything. How could you expect a fun-loving man-child be anything but?

I appreciate everything he did in New England until the end.
He threatened retirement and then didn't.
Then he did.
Then once he "retired" he never filed his retirement papers and teased a possible comeback all year.
Now that TB is in TB he wants to play down there.
Make a decision.

Fuck that game. If he wants to go to Tampa, and Tampa wants him, first round pick.

So wait I missed something? TB now in TB is pushing for Gronk to join him in TB? Don't the Pats still own the rights to Gronk? Wouldn't there have to be compensation? And wouldn't Gronk need to eat something>?

Yes.
And yes.

If I was Bill I would set the trade bar so high no one would want him.
Hold me hostage? Fuck you, I hold you hostage.

But...that's why I am not an 8 time SB winning coach...

Speaking of the 49ers, they have #13 and #31 in the draft and have offered the #13. Supposedly, BB has had a couple of conversations with Lynch. To move up to #13 would cost BB at least one testicle. The Boston media is getting a groin blood rush and every talking head is saying Tua, Tua, Tua. I hope it's all bullshit. I don't think Tua is the answer and the cost is way too high.

Tua is not the answer.
Besides, I keep hearing in Nashville that his draft stock is falling for physical reasons.

I would rather see them use a late mid on Hurts.

Gronk can hold the Pats hostage far moreso than the other way around.

Gronk did file his retirement papers, btw. A long time ago. If he hadn’t he would’ve counted on last year’s cap and would be a FA right now. Or he would’ve been placed on a different reserve list than the one they put him on (i.e., reserve-retired).

I will look into that.
But I do not think that's the way it works.
A player cannot just take a year off and then be out of his contract.

Exactly. That’s why he was placed on the reserve-retired list.

If he hadn’t filed they couldn’t have placed him there. He either would’ve been on the roster, cut, or on reserve-did not report.

Well I think we’re splitting hairs on what “filing” means. I fully agree the Pats still own his rights. Because he retired while under contract and the Pats placed him on the reserve-retired list. Kraft is probably referring there to him filing the paperwork so he can collect retirement benefits, but he was placed on reserve-retired list and that can’t happen unless the contracted player notifies the league they’re retiring and the commissioner’s office gives the team permission to place the player on that list. So I don’t see where he was holding the team hostage...his status was well-defined a long time ago and he has yet to request reinstatement so it’s a pretty moot point. The dude is retired.

I'm going to use my same 'ol tired joke I always use in these situations...

I read the Pats were going to draft me for QB. Of course I read it immediately after I wrote it.

Anyone can write what they want and quote "from a source".

Purt near 100% of what gets written this week is probably either a team-sponsored smokescreen or sock puppet BS I expect.

4th rounder for a 7 and a player that wasn’t gonna be on the roster anyway is better outcome than I would’ve expected, too.

100% agree. Gronk wasn’t going to play for the Patriots. Getting a 4th round pick is better than nothing.
