Okay was not aware of that. Can't tendor him. 3rd contract, not a rookie.

Which he already has...He just doesn't like the dollar number associated with what he had previously negotiated and then has already renegotiated.Gilmore said he'd take a 1-year contract.
We sign him with a reasonable bump for this year.I think BB should take a 3rd for Stidham or couple Stid and Gilmore and ask for a first
And then what we tag him tendor a 2nd round pick?
The contract desire will limit his value. It think we let Gilmore's agent negotiate his contract/trade with the condition at least a 2nd needs to be part of the trade. We sign him with a reasonable bump for this year.
He plays healthy and strong, we trade him for a 2nd and a 4th.
If we are 4-4 halfway and get a good offer during the season, do you take it?
Conditional contracts must be equal to each other. The contract desire will limit his value. It think we let Gilmore's agent negotiate his contract/trade with the condition at least a 2nd needs to be part of the trade.
The contract would good faith between Gilmore and the new team until the trade is completed. No team would not honor it after giving up value in a trade. The Pats would trade Gilmore and his current contract to the new team.Conditional contracts must be equal to each other.
If you write a contract that $$$$ are conditional to what you get in a future trsde, you are allowing one side to decrease pay by trading him on the cheap. This is where the contract causes a court settlement and does not benefit eaither party. Nobody signs that.
Not following you.The contract would good faith between Gilmore and the new team until the trade is completed. No team would not honor it after giving up value in a trade. The Pats would trade Gilmore and his current contract to the new team.

Pats trade him as is this year. Whatever he agrees to with the new team is between them, but needs to be good faith until after the new team owns his current contract. Not following you.
Are you saying Gilmore negotiates a trade with new team for next year while still playing for the Patriots this year?
League would never approve that. Please explain.
So he plays for us this year after he already has the next 4 years @ 80 million? If he were allowed to find a new team, that team would renegotiate his present contract and extend it. So in essence he would get a renrgotiated salary for this year and possibly two or three years added at probably the same rate as this year. A portion would be guaranteed and of course part of it would also be a bonus.
Example:
New contract is 2021, 22, 23, 24 Total value is $80M
2021 $7M + $8M + $20M Bonus (Spread over four years)
2022 $15M
2023 $15M
2024 $15M
Team can choose to take a $35M cap hit in 2021 that includes the entire bonus or spread it over four and take an annual $20M cap hit and hope the cap goes up 10-12% every year.
No. He would make the deal and then the Patriots would trade him. Knowing that this team was willing to shell out the money AND give the Patriots what satisfied their wants/needs/desires.So he plays for us this year after he already has the next 4 years @ 80 million?
He can't sign until his contract is done or we trade.
Devil is in the details.No. He would make the deal and then the Patriots would trade him. Knowing that this team was willing to shell out the money AND give the Patriots what satisfied their wants/needs/desires.
No... The official order would be:Devil is in the details.
So in this scenario, Does he play for us this year?
We have a lot of WR2 and WR3's. Don't need more? I'd be interested in a WR1 or borderline.Simple question.
How would you feel about a 30 year old WR and a fifth round pick for Jarrett Stidham?
Texans drafted Davis Mills out of Stanford, but he's not ready to step in to the fray just yet.
The 30 year old WR is Randall Cobb.
Simple question.

I would rather someone stash a box of tampons in Harry's locker with a note. Stop playing like a pussyWe have a lot of WR2 and WR3's. Don't need more? I'd be interested in a WR1 or borderline.
Stidham is worth at least a 3rd in this market. IMHO
Not Randall Cobb, not this year with the pick ups we have already had.Simple question.

He likely won't be available until after this year.It appears Davante Adams may become available. I wonder if the Pats have the trade chips to get him but doubt they do.
