Guess this is why this is the rumors chat?
Someone is going to give up a high 2nd for #133? With onlytwo years left on his rookie contract. Really? If so do it tomorrow before they change their mind.

Texans have made a lot of bad trades.
Gotta love the job that Nick Caserio and Jack Easterby are doing!

"When O’Brien was fired, Easterby stood alone atop the organization until he finally managed to bring Caserio in, at which point the organization began a sprawling purge of team employees who represented rival power centers in the organization, from long-tenured executive Jamey Rootes (who was pushed out) to franchise quarterback Deshaun Watson (who wants out). It is difficult to imagine what the Texans will look like next year, beyond that they will look more or less the way Easterby wants them to look, and the secondary certainty that they will not be much better than they were last season."

We have not started camp yet. Non of our QB's have beaten out anybody yet.
Camp is where things start to get competitive.....
I agree. What if Stidham does beat out Cam nd Mac. Does BB start Stid and have Mac hold the clipboard and cut Hoyer or would he cut Cam?
Stidham, if he stars, could be the future or a first round pick. Would BB trade him if he was that good and was exceptional in camp and preseason games. If Stidham's off season work has paid off, Bill could be in a really tight corner.

Having too much talent to choose from does not put a coach in a tight corner IMO. My belief is BB will always go with the best player.

The rumor that you posted was a 2nd rounder for Stid, which I said if he couldn't beat out Hoyer then we should definitely take it. If he beats out everybody and starts then that's the best possible scenario.

That said, he ain't gonna be #1 or #2 in my opinion. Though if I could have it my way it would be Mac #1 and Stid #2.

Everyone thinks that Mac Jones is the next coming. People forget that he's not even 6'3", he 6'2 3/8" and he doesn't have the speed to get out of the pocket. We know Cam is almost 6'6" and can run like horse but can't throw for shit. Yet Stidham played for a half a game against a team that was 14-2 and was overwhelmed and never got another play. We know from the preseason that he can throw and he can run and he's 6'4 1/2".

Since the popular opinion is that he sucks, why not just cut him and not waste anymore time? If I was Stidham, I'd be making a public stink and demanding to be traded or released. Patriots have their quarterbacks, why prevent him from finding a new team before training camp?

Fear. My guess is that Josh knows he's going to be better than good. He's a late bloomer and once he finds an offense that he can play in, he'll haunt the Patriots until he retires....................just my opinion.

I agree with this but, let's not just dump him. If we can find a trade partner do it.

Otherwise cut Cam and let Stid and Mac duke it out.

Cam isn't bringing us a championship. Keep the young kids and see if they can just be game managers. This team is stout enough, we don't need a Pro Bowl QB. Just one that takes care of the ball. Mac does that. Stid I believe can if given the time.

"Cam Newton. Stidham hasn't started an NFL game in his first two seasons, but he has appeared in eight games (three in 2019 and five in 2020), where he has struggled. On average, only 50% of his passes have been completed, making the Patriots reconsider their original plans for the quarterback."

With all due respect, that's not just your opinion since you are also assigning an opinion to everyone else.

The majority of opinions I've seen from persons not making money giving opinions are: 1) Mac has promise but there's no guarantee that promise translates; 2) Nobody has seen enough of Stidham to reach a conclusion, though not getting onto the field isn't a good sign.

BB makes firm, unwavering decisions he feels are best for the team. He'll do the same with Stidham and has two more affordable years to find out.

Like sitting Malcolm Butler against the Eagles in the Super Bowl?
Exactly. He made an unwavering decision he felt was in the best interest of the team. When you allow someone to break team rules, then play, the undermining effects can be felt for a long time.

Personally, I think the Blount fumble had more impact in that game.

You act as if that wasn't deserved
Well deserved. Butler was/is a one trick pony. He had been getting burnt repeatidly and still is.

Could he have made a play or two that may have changed the game? Possibly? But certainly no guarentee.

I don't think it was deserved. I think BB thought that if the team won another SB at that point it might indicate a lack of balance within the NFL and deter fans from staying interest. He sat Butler for the good of the game.

He could have sat butler for the first half and then put him in. Sitting your starting CB for an entire game might have sent a signal but denied the team a ring. "I'll show him who the boss is on this team. I'll prove it by flushing the Lombardi down the shitter.

Having a really decent starter emerge from a 3rd year man to hold the reigns for a 1st round rookie is a really tight corner?

Cam is trying to hold on to the glory and know Bill did him a favor because he is a likeable guy. Media is drumming him up because he is a has been.
Hoyer isn't even trying to rekindle the glory, he's here to make a buck as a camp arm. He knows the system well so is a huge benefit to newcomer WR's to learn the system and help Josh evaluate who to keep. He and BB are doing each other favors.

I'm sorry but Butler was not all that good to begin with. One splash SB play and he's tagged the next Ty Law. Sorry that less would not have been any different had Butler played.

And BB made it clear to the organization for many years to come, " You are not bigger than the team "!
