Someone is trying to drive the price up on JJ.

Reports came out last night that the Patriots said, "No thanks" when presented with this rumor. If the team that's supposedly making this offer is a top contender like the Chiefs, Bucs or Bills, is that first rounder at 30, 31, 32 worth Jones?

Or is Chase Winovich, Jarrett Stidham and a Patriot third round choice a better deal? This is supposedly the offer that's on the Falcons' plate. Winovich is a mobile guy who can play inside, outside and the edge and Stidham could be Ryan's perfect backup. Plus they would be getting a pick that's at worst case, late in the third. One pick or two known players and a lesser pick?

That would be a good deal for ATL IMO

Just came out that it's 2023 first round pick and a 2022 fourth round pick. San Francisco 49ers.

If you're the Falcons, think that's worth dealing him to an NFC opponent?

I think the Pats offer would be a much better payoff in the long and short time frames.

Maybe. But we can't tuck it in for the night. Certainly can't kiss it and say nighty-night. At least until Tuesday night (6/1).

I still think your other post was correct:

"Someone is trying to drive the price up on JJ."

The rumors are still flying high and low about Julio Jones and where he's going.

Seems that the 49ers are now supposedly in the driver's seat. because they will give the Falcons a 2023 1st and a 2022 4th. Supposedly they will take on Julio's entire $15.3M salary for 2021 and pay his guarantee of $2M in 2022. There are a couple of hiccups. The Falcons must wait until June 1st so that Julio's dead money drops from $23M to $7.75M. The Falcons need $8M to sign their 2021 draft picks and right now only have $835K.The second hiccup is that the 49ers have $7M in cap space but now that they've decided to jump into the Julio trade, Trey Lance's agent has jumped in also. Trey ain't takin' a low ball offer. If the Niners wanted him so bad that they gave up what they did, then Trey is worth at least 5 years $25M and now the niners are in a shitstorm. Lance ain't giving them a discount. If the 49ers can't get Lance to to take a $2M salary in 2021, then they have to cut players or make some trades to pick up another $3M to fit the new QB and the veteran WR into the team's roster. If they had been smart, they would have traded JG and they would have $40M+ right now. To get at least $3m, they would have to cut the starting RT, RG or C or a DT, CB or LB. They ain't gonna cut or trade Kittle.

As far as the Patriots are concerned, it's reported that BB would also give up a 2023 first round pick and possibly a player but if he does, he will not take the entire salary and guarantees. At 32, Jones performance has been steady but he's missed a few games because of injury and missed 3 in 2020 plus actually came out of three more. WRs with leg injuries are a risk and Bill won't take on the entire risk.

SI thinks JJ is going to the Titans.

CBS Sports thinks it will be the 49ers.

NBC Sports Boston doesn't think that the Patriots are serious.

He'll probably end up with the Bears. 8^)

Peter King says that the first bround pick is false. If the Falcons had that offer, they would have taken it and the deal would have been announced at midnight. He says that which ever team offers a hard second rounder and agrees to take n jJ's entire $38M salary will get him. King thinks the Titans are foolish enough to do it. They think that they are going to the Super Bowl and JJ is the cherry on top.

IMO, they can't beat the Bills or the Chiefs. I think that they will have a miserable time with the Colts.

It'll all be settled by Friday.

So if traded what is his value? A second round pick?

Probably not going to get a 1st but a 2nd does not seem enough.
Maybe a 2nd and a player?
2nd and a 4th?
Very hard for me to judge since I'm one of those who thinks we should not give him a big contract.
He should recover 100 percent but he was not playing his best last year before he got hurt.

I don't know. He got injured after he already was playing at slightly reduced level. He's in a contract year so he'd likely have to agree to something with his new team to get anything done.

A 2nd rounder makes sense I think but I honestly don't know.

Perhaps the Pats work something out with him in the way of a raise but not a contract extension.

Wonder what his agent is thinking. A one year deal showing he still has it might help him get a contract but then he would be 32.
Happy birthday Stephon!
