Sherman is a fairly intelligent guy....for an NFL player. I don't know much about the reporter and his credentials but from what I saw/read, Sherman went way over the top as he is prone to do. A very 'look-at-me/all-about-me' attitude which rubs me the wrong way when it comes to perhaps the ultimate team sport.

Well, is it just the basket that's submerged, or does the student also need to be completely underwater?
I was assuming everything and no pansy scuba tanks. Now if it's just the basket...I'm not as impressed.

I'm sure Richard was just biding his time before he finally went on off on him. Moore has been one if his biggest critics (maybe only) in Seattle about how much of a douche bag Sherman can be to people.

Saying he isn't a mensa member is far different from saying he's stupid.

Stanford doesn't do underwater basket weaving (like the SEC or most of the rest), so sure, it helped to get a football scholarship, but he GRADUATED from Stanford. With good marks.
I'm aware there's a divide between mensa and stupid. My point is, saying "Oh, he's smart, he went to Standford" doesn't carry much weight.

Stupid is as stupid does, and it seems to me that Sherman does a whole lot of stupid.

And AGAIN, he does all kinds of things that are good and 'smart' too, but those don't get as much play. <shrug>

He's INCREDIBLY involved in the community, has a good sense of humour, is quite genuine and has the rep of being the OPPOSITE of your perception. I could post a ton of that shit, but what's the point? People have made up their minds already.

So all I'm saying is 'give him shit when he deserves it.'

You don't have to gild the lily. You don't have to make him into something he's not.

Let me suggest that your memory is fuzzy. I gave him shit for the outburst after the NFCCG vs the 9ers, and I wasn't alone. I ALSO said that he did adderall (as did others)

You've been carrying a torch for Sherman since back then.

Which is fine, but don't selectively remember things please Dave. Thanks.

I've been "carrying a torch" for him because he is an asshole and has given me plenty of reason. I don't remember the specific posters but everything I wrote was true, there was plenty of Hawks fans who were telling us all that stuff. I specifically remember the "he went to Stanford" excuse among others.

I've never had a problem with Sherman. He's a phenomenal player, he runs his mouth and is an asshole, but he backs it up. I'd take him on my team any day.

That being said, he needs to grow some thicker fucking skin. Of course a reporter is going to ask you about a sideline tantrum, IT IS HIS JOB!

Yes, he's quite genuine at being an obnoxious jerk and a hypocrite. And I don't think his rep is the opposite of my perception, he's pretty well regarded as a really good football player who is thin skinned and runs his mouth too much. Seems pretty accurate to me.

No, he's not an idiot. But he's no shining beacon of intelligence amongst NFL players, either. That's my point.

Bullshit. One was doing his job, the other was defensive because he thinks he is smarter than his coaches.

Moore may have a history there, but nothing he asked there was out of line. Sherman just didn't like be "disrespected". Sherman is an asshole with a childs mind.

Holy cow, he was mean to a media fellow who was just doing his job trying to stir the shit. Ridulous reaction from the haters here. How many threads have we seen saying the media sucks eggs? Any surprise that players hate them also? Yeah some handle it better then others. QBs seem talented in this regard, WRs and CBs not so much.
You got posters in glass houses throwing stones, it not like he hit his momma and needs a babysitter like some, right?

Yea the reporter Moore when I heard him on the radio said that Sherman has him blocked on twitter so Moore was not able to see his apology at all.

I've defended Sherman many times, but not always. I think that he pushes the envelop on the field in terms of abiding by the rules of the game, sometimes staying on one side of the line and sometimes crossing over it. I also think that some of his bashing of other players in the media has been bush league.

But I think that the guy's seemingly titanic ego has really been getting the better of him lately. He made an immense public spectacle on the sidelines against the Falcons that Kris Richard didn't meet with his approval. Then he made another public spectacle on the sidelines against the Rams that the play-calling of Darryl Bevell and Pete Carroll didn't meet with his approval-- and doubled-down on that after the game in a press conference. And now he made a local reporter's question about all of that into another public spectacle, making it clear that the guy's question didn't meet with his approval.

First of all, no one has to tap dance for Sherman's approval. And secondly, Sherman himself created the whole situation by making public spectacles out of what he could have chosen to keep behind closed doors and away from the media.

Sherman has done a lot of good for the Seattle community both on the field and off of it. I like and respect the guy in a lot of ways. But he straddles and sometimes crosses the line on the field-- and sometimes does the same off of it too, in my opinion. These latest incidents are already rippling divisively through the fan base, and very possibly through the locker room as well.

I hope that the guy is able to recognize that he's not infallible, learn from his mistakes, and become a better and better version of his potentials as a player and human being. Starting with getting a hold of his ego a little bit better, not power tripping quite so much as he seems to be doing now, a just reeling his shit in some.

Eh, I guess it depends if you only pay attention to the stuff that fits your pre-conceptions. That's very human nature, confirmation bias. There's LOTS of stuff out there about the other side of him. If you're not a Seattle fan, you're probably not going to run across that much. But it's out there. He's also very well respected in the football fraternity, and in the media, being on 'influential' lists, and getting props from people like the MMQB crew.

He IS regarded as a very intelligent player by his peers (there's talk of him ending up with the NFLPA eventually.

He's ALSO a sometimes loudmouth hot-head who let's his alpha male persona off the leash off the field, which is generally a no-no.

If Moore is the only one writing about how big a douche Dick Sherman is, then you need new beat writers.

Asking him why he is dressing down down coaches that are doing their job, asking if he thinks he has a better play isn't stirring the pot. It's asking the question everyone wants to know. What is Sherman doing? Is Wilson over in his face everytime Sherman gets burned for a TD? No, because that's now what players do. Sherman does, and some of y'all defend it.

The shame of it is he is one of the top corner backs in the league and he is very intelligent. He has the platform and the ability to do and say good things on behalf of the players and has been outspoken on issues like brain injuries. His problem is his inflated sense of self worth and entitlement. In other words he is a spoiled little bitch

Perhaps,he should have his tested?

Those are the kind issues both player and management want handled in house. Reporters know this, but they got to sell papers, get viewers to tune in and get clicks on the internet. Fuck em.

True but (as you mentioned) a reporter will never let it remain in house, regardless of the sport or even if it's not a sport
