Agents are paid to have only their client's best interests in mind. The best ones are powerful enough to make a difference.

You could say that about every agent. The only difference is, Rich Paul has the most power because he represents the games biggest name and has another big name that wants out.

As @shopson67 said, an agents job is to have his clients best interest in mind and get that client whatever he wants, or as close to it as possible.

The bigger the name that client is, the more power that agent has when negotiating.

And a player like AD is every teams treasure.
