To you bandwagoning little kids down in Miami,

It's important to realize that Longevity is important when determining the greatness of a player. Duncan has won rings in 1999, 2003, 2005, 2007, (and 2013?), similar to Ray Lewis who has won Super Bowls in 2000 and 2012.

As was the case on CBS, I'm still picking the Spurs to beat the Heat in the Finals. And if you're suprised if an when it happens, just remember that HurricaneDij told you so...:pop2:

I respect the heck out of him but this is a changing of the guard kinda year. Kobe, KG, Duncan and maybe Pierce and Dirk have had their last go at relevance before the HOF.

I just being a realist here. Of all the teams remaining, the Spurs have the best chance to take down Miami. Gregg Popovich graduated HS with my late uncle, so I have good reason to root for them.

I still remember that poll question thread back on CBS you all laughed at. We'll just see who's laughing come June...

Since Jordan, Tim Duncan is the only player that can debate with having a better career than Kobe. Longevity is key, and thats why I respect the hell out of Duncan.

...I would take Lebron's over Kobe's right now even ignoring the finals this year. 1 ring to 5 yea I get it, but all the individual accolades and in the Head to Head department Lebron was always better than Kobe. Plus Phil Jackson said so...

Kobe's resume more closely resembles Robert Horry's than MJs or Lebrons.

Grizzlies have the best shot. Spurs are not far behind but no matter how good Pop is he can't suit up his brain and the Spurs are old. What happened last year when they played OKC ? Yes the Spurs have gotten better since then sure, but the Heat are a much more efficient, mature and talented group than OKC and have also gotten better this year.

I like the SPurs to win it all. The Heat are about to go thru a grinding series regardless. I think the Spurs squeak by the grizz in 6 and take the Heat in the same amount of games

You forget the amount of time in between series for the Heat to get healthy and bounce back from that grinding. Indy is a tough series for them, they are hungry, young, long, and pretty good. It will be a lot closer than the 5 games suggest. Unlike the Bulls series.

Honestly I think the Grizzlies has a better chance in beating the cHeat - Defense wins championship and they have some big guys that will really beat up on them.

I am a ABH FAN - Anybody but the Heat to win

Other than Kobe and Lebron, since the Big Fundamental came into the league has any other player provided more value dollar-for-dollar to their team?

DUNCAN IS A BEAST!!!!

sorry for derailment with another kobe LBJ or MJ thing

Not a joke, an outlier opinion, probably.

I am speaking of individual accolades, weighting MVPs much higher than Titles as the 2nd option. I am also fairly heavily weighting that Lebron won 2.5 of of his MVPs during Kobe's Prime.

4x MVP does it for me.

Another big something that is not on paper, Kobe was never really the best in the league and if he was he was never as dominant as Lebron has been. (We have to leave out that Lebron has barely entered his prime as this is a resume.)

-Kobe was not Rookie of the Year.
-Kobe does have 5 rings and I guess I am discounting his first 3 a little.
-Kobe has a Slam Dunk win, that is less impressive than HS accolades but neither really in the conversation.
-Lebron also has a lot of high school accolades (I consider those about as important as...being the cavs all time leading scorer)

This is idiotic on so many levels.
You discount Kobes first 3 rings why? Yet you credit LeBron getting one only after he joined the big 3.

Jordan>Kobe>Lebron

:agree: The object is to win titles, not MVP's!! Ask any player who has won an MVP, but no titles which they'd rather have!!

Also, folks want to discount Kobe's first 3 rings because he wasn't the clear cut leader on that team, it was Shaq. However, as far as importance to those teams titles, it was more 1a and 1b.

The Lakers don't win those titles without Shaq, but they don't win them without Kobe either. In fact, there were a couple of Western Conference playoff series that they may not have won if they didn't have Kobe!!

Bottom line is, no player wins any title by themselves. Shaq didn't win any without Kobe or D-Wade, Kobe hasn't won any without Shaq or Pau and Lebron hasn't won any without D-Wade and Bosh.

This is kind of my point. After the rings LBJs career resume is better. Since a resume is individual, that is the approach I took to evaluating their resume's.

I am not saying LBJ is higher on the GOAT list as Kobe. Honestly if LBJ retired today he is probably barely top 15. If he can get a ring this year then probably top 12 to 10ish with retirement afterwards.

At the same time I think LBJ is a superior player than Kobe, but I am still not putting him higher on the GOAT list.

All the questions can be altered slightly for a different evaluation process and this should yield different math but could result in the same result. Everyone's process is different and everyone's math is opinion. Really a fascinating science.

I prefer not to heavily weight Titles in individual resumes because a lot of that is luck. The player does not make a lot of choices where they are drafted or even play or who they play with (until the Heats big 3, legendary if you think about it).

If Lebron was traded to the Laker situation that Kobe was do you think he would have fallen short of a 3 peat? With LBJs personality there is a much better chance they would have played the rest of Shaqs career together. What if the Cavs were able to surround LBJ with an adequate supporting cast?

None of those things are in the players hands yet are required to win a championship.

WOW! We agree. The way the Heat sre playing and te way SA has been playing, I like the Spurs over the Heat.

But is Indiana just that much better than Memphis, or are the Spurs that much better than the Heat. It is all about matchups.

We saw last year the Heat barely could handle the C's and Pacers, but played better against OKC. If I was trying to compare the Spurs to a team, it would have to OKC of last year, but more experienced and more efficient.

Now if the Heat start playing more like a team and Wade steps up, it will be a very interesting series.
