Willis is a Hall of Very Good for me. Only played like 7 years.
For half his 8 year career, Willis was considered the best ILB in football. 8yr career, 7x PB & 5x AP. For an 8year career, that's a lot more than just "very good." I don't think it's an issue of IF he gets in the HOF, I think it's WHEN.

I get the idea that he only played 8 seasons, but Boselli only played 7, not to mention that after Terrell Davis got in the HOF, I don't think that consideration weighs as much as it used to.

Willis didn't care enough about football to keep playing. How is that deserving of the hall?

Boselli's career ended because of injury.

It's not the Hall of Those Who Love Football the Most. I'm sure some HOF voters could knock Willis for quitting when he could've continued to play at a high level. Then again, it hasn't hurt other players' HOF chances.

Willis said he quit b/c of his health and wanting to leave on his terms while he was still playing at a high level. The last few years, he had nagging toe injuries that started to effect him. "Honestly, I pay attention to guys when they're finished playing, walking around like they've got no hips and they can't play with their kids. They can barely walk," Willis said. "People see that and they feel sorry, but they don't realize it's because he played a few extra years. ...For me, there's more to my life than football. It has provided an amazing platform for me to build on, but it's my health first and everything else just kind of makes sense around it."

I think Willis gets in, maybe not this year, but he gets in.

For me, he traded the hall to play with his kids.

His call, of course, but it's not a football hall of famer move. It's one of the lines that separates. He had more to give to the game, but didn't.

My list.

My Arguement for Willis.

Yes his career was cut short. Yet his body of work is Outstanding and for the Naysers.

"If Willis didn't step back because of Concussions and Played for 5-7 more seasons. Would you have considered him a HOF?"

if yes. Then why negate him for being smart?

He belongs in the HOF. Had a damn good career before a nagging injury probably changed the way he had to play on the field.

Do you feel the same way about Barry Sanders & Calvin Johnson? They also retired early.

How do you not put Joe Thomas in???

Does he have the numbers though? He played 11 seasons. was a 10x all pro. 6x first team. And didn't miss a single offensive snap until an injury ended his career. Yeah he's a HOFer.

Willie Anderson is 100% a HOF - toiled away on some craptastic Bengals' teams, but was the dominant RT of his era. 100% deserves to be in.

I'm a Seahawks fan. I dislike the 49ers, been that way since 2012 and Captain Retard( I can't remember his name but he was a HUGE Kap fan)

I respect the hell outta Willis. The guy was a beast and a Bitch to play against. If he played more years an auto HOF.

That is why he has my vote, if i had one.

Top 5:

Thomas
Allen
Willis
Revis
Ware

Both played longer. Barry played a position with shorter careers. Both were also in a disaster of an organization. Would they have left if they weren't stuck in Detriot? Probably not.

I agree, but he chose differently.

I was one of the first people on the Willis wagon his draft year. Not a Willis or Niner hater.

Longevity should be and typically is one of the most important criteria for the Hall. How many years of fans and seasons of football did you leave a mark?

Willis played 8 years. Like I already mentioned he's a 7x pro bowler & 5x all pro. He was also ROY. Missed that earlier.

Johnson played 9 years. He's a 6x pro bowler & 3x all pro.

Both are part of the NFL's all-2010 team.

To me it just doesn't make sense to have an issue with a player who's career was cut short due to injury but not have an issue with a player that walked away from the game healthy.

I can respect it from a family perspective or his wife's perspective, but it's not respectable from football's perspective. It's just an early end of something great and less great football.
