:pound: Only pats fans can compare holding and tampering with game equipment and see nothing wrong. One is premeditated, the other is not. I doubt linemen are going into every play planning to hold.

Actually holding is premeditated, and it's also coached. Sounds to me like you don't really know much about how the game is played.

So tugging a receivers jersey throughout the game to gain an advantage is less of importance than a small difference in ball pressure? Do you actually think it has less effect on any given play?

The point is the rules are broken all the time, and yes some aren't really that big of a deal.

By the way tugging a players jersey is coached at all levels, as in setting out in advance, planning, etc.

It's only a big story because of the team it involves.

If a player tugs another players jersey, throws a punch, goes offside or whatever, it is happening out in the field of play where 7 officials can see it and judge it. When a team sneakily deflates balls after the officials have inspected them and deemed them fair for both sides it is clearly underhanded and far more egregious than some CB trying to get away with holding. I suspect you understand this but you are being a good soldier for your team and defending them at all costs.

Keep trying to justify your boys blatant cheating. Won't help. It really is pathetic watching you defend them now

Imagine the SB has just been played and the Pats get blown out 45-7 to Seattle. Then it comes out that Paul Allen was able to get a hold of the Pats helmet frequencies so Seattle could hear all the calls going into Brady. Would that be the same as a CB tugging on a WR's jersey all game long? Would NEPatsFan be just as ok with it? I doubt it. People seem to care a bit less about this because they aren't sure if it actually would have benefitted the Pats that much. But it shouldn't matter. Even if helped a tiny bit it's still an advantage that Indy did get.

It is possible that NE has been taking the air out of the ball since Brady and the offense "turned the corner" after that KC debacle.

Yeah I just heard a radio caller say the same thing and it makes perfect sense.

The NFL has to finish it's investigation and issue any punishment if needed in the next day or 2 tops.

There is no way in hell that can let this fester leading into the SB. Get it done now so at least there is a can chance this will be trending downward by media day.

Oh, you mean like signal taping?

I'm kind of wondering why offenses can't have the ball pressure at whatever level they'd like.

Here is what Goodell had to say right after spygate:

"Too often, competitive violations have gone unpunished because conclusive proof of the violation was lacking. I believe we should reconsider the standard of proof to be applied in such cases, and make it easier for a competitive violation to be established."

"And where a violation is shown, I intend to impose more stringent penalties on both the club and the responsible individual(s). I will also be prepared to make greater use of draft choice forfeiture in appropriate cases. I believe this will have the effect of deterring violations and making people more willing to report violations on a timely basis."

If it comes out the Pats did something fishy I wonder if Goodell will be true to his words and come down hard on them.

Right? Like the firmness of the ball makes a difference. And baseball players should get to use any bat they like, and pick the firmness of the ball being pitched to them. Who cares?
