QBs have an internal device that tells them when to release a pass. The best in history have known how to adjust that device and add bells and whistles to it. It starts in Pop Warner and gets defined and improved through high school. It get refined in college and for the best is working like Rolex or at least a Waltham by the time they reach the pros.

Jacoby has a device in his head but has never had a true opportunity to refine it. He working with a Timex. A QB doesn't necessarily have to be able to run like a deer, but being faster than a sloth helps. Brady and Manning were not gazelles, but their mental mechanisms worked well enough to keep them moving quick enough and knowing where toi move to avoid most disasters.

In my years of coaching I've watched kids who just have that natural mechanism in their heads and have seen it become a Swiss mechanism and in others, watched is continuously malfunction. Like I said, Jocoby Brissett has a Timex and it works just fine, until he needs a Citizen's movement.

Mayo has to be more aware of a situation that requires that kind of timepiece and has to be ready and willing to see if Maye has a better internal mechanism and what it will do when put to the test. It may be time to find out if that watch works as advertised at 300 meters.
Agree BK, some kids can process what the D is doing much faster than others. Likewise the good ones can just feel that pressure and have the ability to move.

The problem with these Gen X stats are they only use the metrics that they designed to fit their desired outcome.

There are currently on 4 QBs in the league with a TT (Time to Throw) measured from the snap of the ball until the time the QB releases it. Great stat if you have a QB that can process quickly and has a line that can hold a block that long. It doesn't account for things like collapsing the pocket or for QBs that routinely roll out of the pocket.

Sure Jacoby is over 3 seconds TT. Could he do better? Sure so could every other QB in the league. But that's not reality.

I feel bad for Jacoby, if he's not running for his life he's getting hit. We don't need another Mac Jones seeing ghosts. Let Jacoby handle it until he can't or they figure out the Oline issues.

Fair enough. We'll have to agree to disagree.

First I didn't look up what Jacoby's snap to release is currently. The snap to release is a misleading stat.

Jacoby has gone over 200 yards 3x in his career. Brady's best was 110.
How is it misleading? All stats can be misleading passing stats, QB tosses a two yard screen WR runs 80 yards QB get 82 passing yards, Its a gauge if a QB is holding the ball 3 to 5 seconds that likely means his WRs are not getting separation, and if they lack mobility that becomes an issue. Using Stevenson as a workhorse can only hold up so long and makes the team one dimensional. At least if we can Dink and DUnk its some sort of passing game. My bottom line is that we have to develop some passing game, its a long season

All stats can be misleading passing stats,
All stats are misleading.

Stats are manipulated to accomplish an end goal. Be it a QB, RB or WR goal.

You all know the MPH stat. Harry Jones ran 21.765 MPH against the Bears. There are mitigating factors such as temperature, humidity and that little breeze that just happened to be blowing at 14.9875 MPH behind Harry. And the fact that the field was perfectly dry and did not allow for more than three millimeters of slippage on the artificial turf. If he'd been running in Buffalo with pouring rain in 55 degree temps, his record dash would have been somewhere around 14.5 MPH. But the stats are the stats and until someone questions them, they will be "The Stats".

Believe what you will. Until what you believe is misproven.

A great offensive line and receivers that are all going deep, the QB doesn't need to unleash a throw in under 2 seconds.
But that twists the stats to show a QB that doesn't have a quick release.

Defense is being tested.

Wallace is starting at LT for the first time.

Jets sent 7 after Brissett on both passes and he just was able to get the ball away.

Van Pelt has to use that rush against them. Quick flares .

Tavai just got a chintsey roughing call on Wilson because he wouldn't go down and Tavai slammed him.

TD Lazard. Austing grabbed his shirt and was left holding a rag.

7-0 Jets

If Van Pelt screws around like the series, I will probably switch off and watch reruns of Big Brother or stream the Golden Bachelorette

Brissett cannot throw more than ten yards. Just had ten seconds and missed the WR by three feet.

Brissett sacked............................Jets sent seven.

It's already getting out of hand. Brissett is as jumpy as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

Jets already have him at a serious disadvantage.

Defense is playing back on its heels.

End of the 1st 7-0 Jets.

Jets will have the ball on their own 8. 3rd and 7.

Stop here should give the Patriots decent field position after the punt.

That sucked. No one in front of Rogers and he soft tosses a pass that goes out to the 40.

3 missed tackles and their on the Pats 46......................Peppers head for the locker room

Allen picks up 12.

Allen picks up 7

This is getting very ugly.

Terrible play calling.

Let's hope Stevenson is ok.

Ineptness on both sides of the ball. The injuries are showing. This teams starting 22 wasn't great to start with. Let alone playing Rodgers with back ups.
