Agreed. I'd love to get Bosa but I'd rather win as many games as they can. The benefit of experiencing winning football for young players is more valuable then getting the top pick.

Another big reason is "buying in", without winning the chemistry (Coaches too) starts deteriorating. Everyone starts to question everyone else, and the "locker room" becomes negative.

The fans certainly do this and far before the players. Fans are already pointing their fingers at Saleh and the Training Staff.

I'm pointing my finger at the training staff. Way too many people getting hurt in practice and even in pre-game warmups.

No doubt. He needs to draft at least one player better than everybody else. Sitting at 4th right now, he'll be in good position EACH round. Oh wait, we don't have a full draft class if i'm not mistaken?

Yep, that's good.

Ok, Arizona, Oakland, and Jets to win this weekend, that would be better yet.

yes it would be but the Raiders have a better strength of record so I doubt that will change with one week to go.

Even if the 49ers beat the Rams on Sunday, the worst they can do is have the No. 5 pick, according to Adam Stites of SB Nation. However, the Raiders' draft range is much wider. If the Raiders win at Kansas City in Week 17, they could fall all the way to ninth.

Ok at worse case we end up at #5 in the draft. Under this scenario i doubt we get Bosa if the early opinions are correct. But there are other highly rated pass rushers and lets hope one fits both value and scheme.

We currently have the tie breaker over the Raiders and Jets. Oakland plays KC and the Jets play New England, both play-off teams. I would think we retain the tie breaker over these two teams.

Arizona plays Seattle which has risen up as a play-off team, we MIGHT have the tie-breaker over them? But anyway, even if we end up at #2, that's still a very good position for a top pass rusher.

2019 NFL mock draft: The strangest QB draft in years

In this particular mock, Clellin Ferrell doesn't go till the 23rd pick?!

Note the Jonah Williams pick right after the 49ers. I'm one for pass rusher IF there is one? But if none worth the pick, this franchise OT works for me. The first CB doesn't go till the 13th pick which implies none are worth top 5.

It's not strength of record against Arizona because they are an NFC West team so it would be divisional or conference record and they beat the 49ers twice so they have a better divisional record unless the 49ers beat the Rams.

There are 4 teams with records of 4-11 or 3-12. Lets say they all lose....in that scenario, the Niners need 2 of these 4 games:

Denver over the Chargers
Dallas over NY Giants
Atlanta over TB
Cleveland over Ravens

If two of those happen, SF picks 2nd. I can see Dal and Atl winning. I think Denver has packed it in, and the Ravens need to win...although the way Cleveland is playing, you never know. Divisional thing and all. At worse case scenario (again...if the worst teams lose) the Niners will pick 3rd.

Per that mock, I don't see Bosa to the Cardinals....they have such a terrible offense that they need to rebuild, so if they don't plug up major gaps in free agency, I can see a scenario where they'll trade down, (QB's will start moving up the draftboard) stockpile more picks and get playmakers. They have to help out Rosen. If the Raiders are picking 2nd, I can definitely see them going Bosa. Niners picking a CB at third? No way.....

There WILL be edge rushers whenever SF picks....Bosa, J. Allen, Polite are all guys I can envision. Then you have guys later in the first/early second like Sweat, Burns, Gary, Z. Allen.....The 49ers can't go through another season without an outside pressure player. It's so far beyond the #1 importance that I can't even think of which comes after.....so much so that if SF gets multiple pass rushers from this draft with their first 2 picks, I am happy.

As for Ferrell? I hope not....seems like Clemson puts out WR, not pass rushing DE/LB.

The tie breaker is strength of schedule - overall season schedule. The weaker schedule wins the tie breaker.

It isn't related to 'head to head', Division, nor Conference records.

One of the articles says at worse case, the 49ers pick 5th. I guess if the 49ers win to reach 5, they'll lose the tie break to another 5 win team.

Agree with multiple pass rushers. Earlier i felt the 49ers would sign a FA pass rusher prior to the draft, but with such a loaded class i'm now wondering about just drafting two prospects? The one who doesn't 'start' can be tried at SAM or be the rush specialist from that side.

I wouldn't be thinking first two picks, but say there isn't one worth top 5 after Bosa is gone? Then we might consider trading down or trading up into late 1st round. In this scenario i'd consider one mid/late 1st and say 3rd round.

After Week 16, the 49ers find themselves back up at the No. 2 overall pick. The Raiders went from No. 2 to No. 4, while the Jets remained at the third selection. Strength of schedule is the tiebreaker, with the worse strength of schedule getting the better pick. San Francisco owns the worst strength of schedule of the four-win teams after Week 16, which is why they jump to the second pick. Arizona is still at the top with just three wins.

The 49ers have the tie breaker over the Raiders and Jets. All three finish against play-off teams so i'd think we'd retain the tie breaker.

IF Arizona wins and the 49ers lose, didn't see any article playing this out?

SF owns the worst SOS as of right now, which is why I posted the 4 games Niner fans should be looking at, because they are the ones that will alter the SOS of both the Niners and the Jets. The Raiders SOS is so far out that if everything broke their way, it still wouldn't change anything between them and us. Everything was based on the 4 (Ariz., SF, NYJ, Oak) worst teams all losing.

It's possible that Ariz beats Sea, and then you'd have to calculate the SOS with the Cards in mind as well as the Jets to determine the draft position.....but I'm not really thinking about that because that is such a longshot. Sea is still playing for something....and so are the Rams when they face SF.
