It's a good thing we thought ahead and have a solid back-up plan should Hamilton not be ready.

We also have really strong hitters on the left side of the field and an experienced manager.

I think everything will be fine.

The offense is always going to be a work in progress...Outside of Bruce/Votto, there isn't anyone on this team that is a consistent threat to hit .300. Also, a lot of K's still in the lineup. When you don't put the ball in play, you struggle.

*Edit* Not that I think Bruce will hit .300, but he's clearly the 2nd best overall hitter in the lineup

Bruce isn't much of a hitter imo. He's a slugger like Adam Dunn. He strikes out way too much. He doesn't take walks like Dunn, unfortunately.

So when Schumaker comes off the DL at the end of this month and Billy boy is batting .142 with an OBP of .179 and has struck out in half his plate appearances, we can send Billy back to AAA and put Skippy in cf until he's ready, if he's ever ready.
