I bet Bochy ordered that walk or pitch around to Lowe. He didn’t want TB to ruin the shutout and get momentum tomorrow with one swing. Walls is a .201 hitter. What are the chances he would have 3 hits today. Well he didn’t.

What worries me is Eovaldi can look great for 3 or 4 innings and then unravel really fast.

Congrats to the Rangers on a great win today. Montgomery was fantastic. Chapman and Leclerc did their job. And Evan Carter is going to be a great ballplayer.

Left a lot out there in terms of offense but a win is a win.

Montgomery was and is our best SP right now. I wish we had first half Eovaldi and Dunning will be on short rest again. Will need a lot of bullpen help to win one more in Tampa. You never know!

I can see the logic in trying to keep the pressure off the rookie. He seems to handle it just fine, but hitting higher might put more pressure on him. I see where you’re coming from, as it would make sense from a numbers standpoint.

But, having him hit 9th does ensure he’ll get pitches to hit, because they can’t pitch around him with Semien and Seager up next. Plus I do like having someone on base when the top of our lineup comes up to bat (today’s poor showing by them notwithstanding).

After the first 8 guys hit you can look at Carter as a leadoff hitter from there on out.

If we win tomorrow, then Dunning can start Saturday in Game 1 of the ALDS on an extra day of rest. Montgomery can pitch games 2 and 5. Eovaldi can go in game 3 on an extra day of rest.

Don't know about Game 4. Heaney and Perez I guess. Or maybe, Scherzer.

Eflin has a BAA of .101 with an 0-2 count. That doesn’t bode well for Josh Jung.

The last time the Rangers won a playoff game before today was October 9, 2015, against the Blue Jays. Delano DeShields got 3 hits in that game. Keone Kela got the win, and Ross Ohlendorf got the save. Cole Hamels was the starting pitcher.

I don't have a problem with him hitting before Semien and Seager come up. At least they might drive him in.

I would think Garver will be back in there for Grossman at some point.
I don't want to move Carter because it's working for him right now where he is in the batting order.
We need Semien to get hot. Seager looked much better today so that was good.

I think we go in there tomorrow and blow the doors off Tampa Bay. Gonna say 10-1 blowout. By the 3rd inning we will have sucked the life out of Tampa.

Sometimes the way Taveras performs at the plate I could see using Duran in LF and Carter in CF. Duran has not been allowed to have a slump without it putting him in the doghouse. Several others have been allowed to play through very prolonged, deep slumps.

Duran made 19 starts in July hitting .186, and then made 22 stars August hitting .265, I'd say he was given plenty of time to work on his issues
