He has been on the upswing lately so just based on that he needed to be in there. I felt at some point that Taveras and Duran would struggle through the course of a long season. Duran did drive in the 1st run last night and Taveras has been keeping his average in the 270's. Duran just isn't hitting the ball with the authority I am used to seeing from him. Of course I hope he gets it back. Not sure what is being done behind the scenes to help these guys.
I have heard some folks say Garver has been on an upswing lately because more of his starts have been at catcher.

Apparently, he has hit well at catcher all year because his OPS as a catcher is over 1.000.

I didn't realize there was a 400 point difference, depending on if he caught or DHed, until I read that twice lately and looked it up for myself.

JP Martinez was signed a few years ago because the Rangers had extra international money saved to go after Ohtani. When Ohtani signed with the Angels the Rangers pivoted and signed JP. I would love to see him stay up and get a hit off of Ohtani next month.

Maybe JP will be the bat that wasn't available to trade for at the deadline.

I saw where a team did it just the other day.
Okay wasn’t sure. Logic says they DFA Miller and add JPM but they would have also send someone down which would logically be Ornelas. But we are talking the Rangers FO so who knows

Or they release Hedges

I do wonder if Leody will be sent down, if he has any options left that is?

If they DFA Miller that pretty much means Huff will stay up to be the 1B backup.

I think they put Miller on the 60 day DL. I think when Heim comes back Huff goes down.
Now who goes down for JPM is tricky. Think it has to be an OF. Maybe a 10 day IL
Kind of like Ornelas since he is versatile

Should prove interesting

Can’t depend on other teams we need to win games like today’s where we’re way better than the A’s. The announcers kept making excuses like it’s the opener-type game just overwhelmed our batters but that wasn’t it
No, we shouldn’t be depending on other teams to win or lose. We should take care of business on our end.

But, I’m still going to cheer for whichever team is playing the Astros. First off, it’s the Astros and they should be hated by everyone more than any other team. And secondly, we need the Orioles to win more than the Astros. We can worry about home field advantage later. Winning the division is more important. If we do that, we guaranteed a full series, and with our pitching, I like our chances against any AL team.

If the Astros win the division, we’re forced into a 1-game Wild Card, and our amazing season could be over in one night. Anyone can win in 1 game. Look at today. We got beat by shitty Oakland because our bats all went silent. That could happen in 1 Wild Card game. Much less chance of it happening for an entire season.

So even if it means Baltimore gets the #1 seed, I still say go Orioles. There’s no guarantee they even win their opening round series, so we could still have home field in the ALCS if we get there.

All true but it is totally illogical to put Miller on the 60. The season would end before he could clear and he would be a free agent

Astros already up 3-0 going to the bottom of the 2nd

Probably a few guys can play in an emergency. As far as a regular backup goes, Huff is the only one they have right now.

It would be out of respect for Miller.
