What would you guys think about a Nelson Cruz reunion? He’s just sitting out there without a team.

On the one hand, he’s nowhere near the player he once was, he’s strictly limited to DH, and his strikeouts/OBP are quite a problem.

On the other hand, he’s still a .245 hitter with some power left, and he still hits lefties fairly well. And he’s essentially free.

Would you take a chance on a .245 hitter with some power and familiarity/feel good story for free, or do you think it’s better to give guys like Ornelas, Huff, JP Martinez, etc. the chance to prove themselves while our other guys are out?

No to Cruz. We need to go with the younger talent imo.

All true but it is totally illogical to put Miller on the 60. The season would end before he could clear and he would be a free agent
It is a courtesy to him so he can still be around our young players. I doubt he plays another inning for us

Probably a few guys can play in an emergency. As far as a regular backup goes, Huff is the only one they have right now.
Lowe does not need a regular back up

I wouldn’t think so either and on the 60 he can still around the team and I guess in the dugout

Lorenzen who was traded from Detroit to Philadelphia is throwing a no-hitter through 8 innings at home.

I guess I should have phrased ot as a "real" backup, maybe. They do need that for every position.

A non-emergency backup

A backup they would trust to put there should Lowe miss a game or three due to a minor imjury

Regular the same way Smith is a regular backup for Seager, Semien and Jung

Lol, I guess a regular backup would be a replacement.

"Regular" describes his ability to play the position in the way I wrote it to begin with. I did not use it to describe his playing time.

I would rather run through guys like Huff, JP, Crim, Wendzel, Foscue, and even Carter.

He ended up 3 for 3 and a walk. He hit a double and a HR.

Langford-Carter-Garcia is going to be the best OF in baseball one day in the near future.

But, can they all start after the Rangers sign Grossman to a long term contract? Lol
