Why play Ibanez over Lowe at 1B?
Lowe hits lefties well, better than RHP believe it or not, and won the game last night.
And he’s a better fit at 1B.

Sadly enough Ibanez is not much improvement with a bat or glove.

Would rather have seen Huff at 1B instead of Ibanez.

The problem is Woody. Already stated he is afraid one might get hurt and leave team with no back up with Garver unable to catch.

If Huff had to move from 1B to catcher in the middle of the game it’s not that big of deal..

Issue with all this is Woody plays the platoon game as if this is the rigid way but it does not apply to Huff lowest man in the pecking order

He has Heim in which is counterintuitive to the platoon because of his bat. Well Lowe had a game winner. Play the guys who are hit until they disprove you

So basically Huff had become an insurance policy so he can play his favs.

There are double moves to be made if some longshot injury. Woody just chooses not to play HUFF even against a LHP.
I have no respect for that philosophy

Well that could happen to either of Heim or Huff on any day regardless if they’re bother playing in the same game on the same day?
Huff playing 1B or riding the bench doesn’t effect rather or not Heim will get injured, and Vice versa. Maybe for that one game but doesn’t matter long term.
If one gets injured they’re going to need to add a catcher either way..

Now if woody is afraid they will run into each other on a pop up between home plate and 1B and knock each other out.. I guess I see his POV lol

It is safer to have Huff play 1B then DH but if injury happens just lose the DH and pinch hit for the pitcher if needed. No big deal
