Yeah, that is a very bad idea. If they are going to be to scared to play both him and Heim at the same time, then one of them, or maybe both of them, will spend too much time on the bench. If they have to go with both of them on the 26 man, they might want to acquire a catcher who can also play a couple other positions to join them. Keeping Huff up as a backup is a very shortsighted plan.

FWIW, Kennedi Landry has an article in an email that goes into some detail about Semien. Can't find a web-based version of it, but it does count as a beat writer addressing the story. There are quotes from Marcus and Woodward included. Long story short, Marcus understands he's struggling and prefers not to discuss it, since that doesn't contribute to the solution. He's staying positive. Woody says that Marcus is a pro ballplayer, and he's had slow starts before, and basically everyone should chill out.

He will obviously alternate with Heim and both would make good late inning PH if needed. When Garver can catch again a decision will have to be made. Not likely we will carry three catchers.
