Needs to throw more fastballs with 2 strikes instead of breaking balls.

Yu is a great pitcher. But a staff ace he is not. May be one someday, but the Rangers still missing that elite tier pitcher.

Needs to throw more fastballs period. He's in love with the breaking ball and its killing him.

Mid 2s era in his winless streak

I went back and looked and you're right. I guess I get frustrated by the high pitch counts. And tonight he's over 100 in less than 6 innings.

Regardless of era he's giving up way too many gopher balls and he's pitching himself out of games. He practically refuses to throw the fastball and he is not pitching like an ace. That's not an acceptable performance from your staff ace against a wounded Yankee lineup.

I hate watching the Rangers play in Yankees Stadium. This is the crappiest Yankees team I have seen in the last two decades and they go there and play like the 72 Rangers.

I had the same thought. When Gardener and Cano are the only names you associate with NYY there is no reason that they should be in this game.

He is pitching like he did at the beginning of last year. Extremely inefficient missing with first pitch breaking balls.

If I am Wash ... I put $3k in a pool. Pitchers get $100 for every first pitch strike. And pitchers pay $200 they don't throw a first pitch strike. At the end of the month the pitcher with the most first pitch strikes per AB gets the pot.

Actually, the last 5 HR's he's given up have all been on curve balls. I think what Romeo said about him becoming too predictable and not making adjustments may have some validity.
But it wasn't just Darvish. Martin aside, they just didn't play very well last night.

Rangers let some old, washed up player beat them in walk-off fashion... shaking my head.

Not our fault they play in a tee ball park.

Yes but ... its the same Tball park for a hundred years. With the fence where it is even a high school pitcher knows that offspeed stuff high to LH batters could get killed.

For a century pitchers have known that if you go inside to LH hitters at Yankee Stadium that you have to jam them hard or stay away. Kuroda's first HR to Martin was another example ... not an offspeed pitch but it was inside the strike zone on the inner half of the plate ... and it got killed too.

Did Darvish ignore the scouting reports and preseries pitcher/catcher meeting?

It seems to me Darvish is just doing his own thing when he goes out there.
