With a lefty on the mound for the Giants tonight that probably. means we see Grossman in the lineup tonight. Of course, Grossman hits well from the right side so that is not a problem. It would be nice to keep him at DH though.

I like to occasionally make a top 30 prospect list, myself. This is my mid-season list, although due to needing to wait until draft picks are signed and trades are made, it comes well past the midway point. This was one of the hardest ones I have done simply because there are so many prospects clumped together in my mind. There is not much difference at all, in my mind, between Ortiz at #9 and Curry at #18. From #19 to #30 there isn't a whole lot of difference either. Even the honorable mentions at the end are all very close to those last few on the list.

For this list, I no longer consider guys like Bradford and Anderson prospects because they have spent so much time in the big leagues. You will notice that I have completely given up on Cole Winn. I probably should have at least included him in the honorable mentions, but I need to see three really good outings in a row before I am going to be fooled by him again.

1. Wyatt Langford

2. Evan Carter

3. Sebastian Walcott

4. Brock Porter

5. Owen White

6. Jack Leiter

7. Justin Foscue

8. Zak Kent

9. Abimilec Ortiz

10. Anthony Gutierrez

11. Kumar Rocker

12. Blaine Crim

13. Dustin Harris

14. Aaron Zavala

15. Echedry Vargas

16. Josh Stephan

17. Mitch Bratt

18. Aidan Curry

19. Jesus Lopez

20. Yeison Morrobel

21. Tommy Specht

22. Dane Acker

23. Marcos Torres

24. Davis Wendzel

25. Paul Bonzagni

26. Alex Speas

27. Antoine Kelly

28. Jose Corniell

29. Joseph Montalvo

30. Tucker Mitchell

Here are a few honorable mentions:

Josh Hatcher

Chase Lee

Marc Church

William Privette

Emiliano Teodo

Max Acosta

Kelleyman

From Ken Rosenthal:

The Orix Buffaloes are expected to post Yamamoto this offseason. Eppler watched him in person during the WBC, and according to the Mets’ network, SNY also traveled to Japan to see him pitch this year.

In each of the past two seasons, Yamamoto was the Pacific League MVP and winner of the Eiji Sawamura Award, the Japanese version of the Cy Young. This season could be no different. Yamamoto’s ERA through 16 starts is 1.57. The previous two seasons, it was 1.39 and 1.68. And here’s the best part, from the Mets’ perspective and every other major-league club’s as well:

Thursday is Yamamoto’s birthday. And he will be only 25 years old.

Still nothing if they really are bringing JPM up during this 3-game series

They have always done their due diligence in regards to players from Japan, so I would expect them to be involved this time as well.

Those things usually break late in the day, within 2-4 hours of the game, it seems.

On September 23 last year, Bubba was hitting .284. Leody was hitting .267 at the time. I would have thought if either of them would be DFAed less than a year later, that it would have been Leody.
