when the hitters can't get the ball out of the infield even small ball doesn't work
Bunting has nothing to do with getting tbe ball out of the infield. A simple sac bunt under right condition will work to advance runners. I don't like bunting a lot but sometimes it is called for when the RISP is so terribly bad.

I think we simply need better hitters.

That's a little over 3 pitches per each out the hitters are making. meanwhile none of starters except Perez seem to have figured out how to throw less than 20 pitches an inning.

Definitely a difference between sluggers and hitters. This is why I like Josh Smith and not high on Steele. We have plenty of feast or famine hitters. I also think pitch recognition is an issue

I would be in favor of benching Garver and playing Huff at DH.

As mentioned earlier with the poor hit tool of White he ought to learn how to bunt and maybe for a hit
There are situations in the 8th and 9th that would be useful. Now of course if you employ bunters it is good to have a shutdown closer

This is the one guy on the team that sees pitches. They just need Huff in the lineup regularly

When a hitter is in swing mode the pitcher has a huge advantage. And it really irritates (had to think of a nice word there) me if a pitcher is all over the place and you don't take at least 1 strike before looking for a pitch to hit.

I mentioned that earlier as well. That should be in his arsenal with his speed. If there are men on base with less than 2 outs that can put pressure on the defense. Part of that failure goes to the manager.
Plus White has an approach that someone with power has. It cancels out his speed.

I mentioned that too. We are not getting enough runners on 3rd so even a sac fly scores a run. White should bunt anytime a runner is on 2b with no outs or PH for him.

only problem is Garver can't play at C so if on the off-hand Heim went down to an injury, Huff would have to move behind the plate and then we lose the DH and the pitchers have to hit. not likely to happen but who knows

Yes I was thinking of you
And yes not everyone on the team needs to be a power hitter especially White

The Rangers are dead last in doubles but 5th in homeruns. 24th in batting average. 21st in runs scored. 28th in walks. Maybe they should have a few guys who aren’t power hitters try to hit line drives into the gaps while being more selective at the plate. Maybe they will score more runs.

That is really an oddity. In 2011 we were 2nd in HR and 3rd in doubles. Most of the time those should go hand in hand I would think.

This team has a lot of problems, but the good news is, this current team is not close to the final product. With where we are at in the rebuilding process we should have a team with several flaws.

I was all ready to make the point that doubles go hand in hand with success, but the Yankees have the third fewest and are leading the universe in win % so apparently the Kid doesn't know as much as he thinks.
