I suppose I just prefer a closer to not have to work around a 2nd & 3rd w/ 1 out jam that he put himself into. A good closer can do that. A great closer avoids the jam to begin with.

Nope. You need to go 6 for that.

Regardless of the stat, I was not impressed with Yo overall. The one thing he did well was his high fastball. He has to hit the low edges otherwise to be effective,

I want a closer who can miss bat when needed. Tolle did alot better with that tonight. The walk was no good but Nathan did that all the time. The hit was lucky IMO

He's definitely showing why the Rangers didn't get a decent offer for him at the deadline.

Don't disagree. I know he has pitched different and with a less miss bats approach. Hope for improvement I guess

Ump also blew a couple strike calls in that AB, and the hit was lucky, Tolley did what he had to do

OF LeDarius Clark lost in the finals of the Northwest-Pioneer leagues all-star game home-run derby.

– The Rangers, lacking pitching inventory at the top levels of the system, signed right-hander Robert Coello to a minor league deal. Coello, 30, has made 28 major league appearances with Boston, Toronto and the Los Angeles Angels.

– The Rangers also re-signed right-hander Phil Irwin, who made one start for the major league club last season. Irwin, 28, recently returned from South Korea. He was 1-7 with an 8.68 ERA in 12 starts with KT Wiz of the Korea Baseball Organization.

So what's our most recent take on Ryan Rua?

Dont remember the last time I saw him, must have been last week. Possibly a day or 2 after the inside the park HR. I can tell you I have ZERO expectations for a young player that is getting the playing time that he's been seeing. He has been serviceable in the OF IMO. I just don't feel like I can expect a hot streak from him at the plate with so little PT. Maybe they trade him during the Winter mtgs, but who knows

Not sure on Coello, but I doubt Irwin sees the big leagues with the Rangers. Sounds like he is just gonna fill out a roster spot.

Looked pretty fuckin closer-like to me. I can't believe Altuve chased that.

I guess having Feliz & Nathan close games the past few years has given us an immune feeling of putting people on base but somehow getting out of it. 1st & 3rd with 0 outs is NOT the way to go about things.

While I agree Tolleson has stats on his side, putting runners on every time out is not a great recipe for success.

Feliz did it.
Nathan did it.

We all bitched & moaned back then....why not now?

Tolleson is a closer b/c we have no one better to close. I'd rather see him in the 8th inning.
