From. Texas Rangers PR:

Congratulations to Texas prospect RHP David Davalillo, who was named South Atlantic League (High-A) Pitcher of the Month for May.

The right-hander went 3-0 with a league-best 0.96 ERA (3 ER/28.0 IP), 35 strikeouts, and 4 walks in May, also pacing qualified South Atlantic League hurlers during the month in all four slash categories (.152/.184/.222/.406) and WHIP (0.68).

Davalillo did not permit an extra-base hit over his final 19.0 IP in May. On May 23 vs. Rome, he fanned a career-high-tying 10 batters over 6.0 scoreless frames (W, 3 H, 1 BB) as part of a 4-1 Hub City victory.

Currently ranked as Texas’ no. 29 prospect (MLB Pipeline), Davalillo has gone 4-0 with a 1.02 ERA (5 ER/44.1 IP) in 9 games/starts for the Spartanburgers this season, leading the SAL in ERA, WHIP (0.72), and opp. BA (.146).
He should start moving up higher in the rankings. I don’t see a lot of offensive talent from Frisco down to Hickory. Maybe some of these guys just need to develope or we need to acquire more talent via trades.
I like Maxton Martin and Chandler Pollard in Hickory. No one stuck out to me at Hub City other than Dreiling. Then Walcott at Frisco with Ortiz and K. Rodriguez to a lesser extent.
It appears we need some offensive Replenishment in our farm system.
