Pence should be recognized and attend as a top vote starter but replaced in the line up due to injury. He deserves no less.

And is also going to get time at 3B, this should make a few folks happy.
Question: Is he too short to play 3rd?
And yes Siggy.....does make some happy.

Some prospect notes from Scott Lucas:

I saw a little of Joe Palumbo's outing. He was spotting his fastball well and getting swings through curves. The downside of a three-walk, ten-strikeout outing is the pitch count. He threw 97 in five innings, a combination of his occasionally spotty control and OKC's patience. The Dodgers swung at the first pitch only four times.

In his last 12 appearances, Emmanuel Clase hasn't allowed a walk or an extra-base hit. Opponents are hitting .174/.174/.174. Demarcus Evans, who issued 10 walks in 10.2 June innings, went 3-1 to his first batter but ended up with a groundout and two spotless innings.

Julio Pablo Martinez ended up with a .307/.402/.480 line in June, easily the best of his career.

I think if he stays here long term 2B or DH are his most likely landing spots eventually.

Evan took my question in his latest mailbag column.

This is what the Rangers' roster could look like in 2022, including an elite starting pitcher currently with a division rival

I asked him to take his best guess at who is on the 2022 roster. Here is his answer:

I am terrible at this stuff. I'll take a guess and it will be littered with guys coming through the minor-league system, but keep in mind, a mostly homegrown lineup is a rarity. Consider that as I type this on a Wednesday in Detroit, the Rangers' starting lineup features only three homegrown players (Nomar Mazara, Joey Gallo and Ronald Guzman). So, with that in mind:

C: Sam Huff; 1B: Ronald Guzman; 2B: Diosbel Arias; SS: Elvis Andrus; 3B: Josh Jung; LF: Joey Gallo; CF: Julio Pablo Martinez; RF: Pedro Gonzalez; DH Willie Calhoun.

I would say that my guesses at second and right field are a bit off the board. I think Chris Seise, Anderson Tejeda or Davis Wendzel could also wind up at second. I think Sherten Apostel could have something to say about third base. I think Leody Taveras or Bubba Thompson are safer bets than Gonzalez for another outfielder, but I'm taking a chance here.

As for a starting rotation: Let's go with Gerrit Cole, Mike Minor, Hans Crouse, Jonathan Hernandez and Joe Palumbo. I think there is still a good chance Minor is traded or walks before 2022, but his performance and the Rangers' performance has to make the Rangers at least consider discussing an extension.

Feels like forever since we’ve played a game.

6 games to go until ASB. I’m hoping for 4-2

Spotty outfield defense tonight. Perhaps a bit of nerves. Now infield

In todays game with all of those stats for the prototypical player most folks would say yes, George Kell would disagree with them though.

Seems like we used to go years without anyone on the Rangers stealing hime, and now Elvis does it three times in just barely over half a season.
