Minor is at number 31 and our old buddy, Derek Holland comes in at 13. Other former Rangers include Kela, Alberto and Moreland.

4. Lance Lynn, SP, Rangers: Lynn’s ascension to one of the game’s best arms has come out of the blue, but there’s little denying how great he’s been since signing in Texas. He’s half through a three-year, $30MM deal and has thus far pitched to a 3.30 ERA and 3.15 FIP with 10.5 K/9, 2.6 BB/9 and 0.92 HR/9. Lynn rarely throws anything other than a four-seamer or cutter, but the formula works for him; he’s lasted at least five innings in 39 of his 40 Rangers starts and averaged 6 1/3 frames per outing. Signed through next season on a Rangers club that has dropped eight of nine, Lynn is arguably the most coveted arm on the trade market.

My guess is he never had a long period of play to develop like Oder has had. That is only a guess.

That's not what a full rebuild is. At least, not what I was talking about when I said full rebuild.

Good question. I think if JD was given carte blanche then yes. The past couple of years have exposed the ownership for being a rather sorry bunch, and I think they handcuff the front office side of things.

I guess I don't understand what good Lynn does us next year when we finish around .500 or worse with him. Then after next year he leaves in free sgency. I guess there must be a fundamental difference between our goals for the team.

You have to have pieces to build around. Lynn seems to be a good piece to start with. Pitching is an issue and building around Lynn makes sense. We’re stuck with Gibson and Lyles next year so hanging onto Lynn gives us 3 starters add Allard and make a call between Minor and Kluber

I don't understand building around a guy who is going to be here a year though. Like I said, there must a fundamental difference in our goals.

For that matter, Lynn can easily be extended but everything hangs on what owners elect to do. If they don't shell out money not much can be done regardless of fundamental differences. We need big bats and if trading Lynn produces one or two, then we have to start seeking pitching and not likely we find another like Lynn and if owners don't shell out then we accomplished nada. Which direction we go is fine by me if we reach our goal and right now I am not sure what that is in the eyes of the big boys.

Why? There will be non contenders and an off season too. Quit jumping to conclusions. Nothing is known for sure at this time any way and for sure we have no indication of what owners will do.
