The Rangers also recently welcomed Jonah Heim back to the lineup, which is a good thing.

But he also can't hit right-handed as his wrist is not 100 percent, and with Josh Jung (thumb) out another month or so, the Rangers are short a right-handed bat.

Take Saturday's game. Heim started at catcher, but Brewers manager Craig Counsell went to left-hander Hoby Milner when Heim came up in the sixth. Bochy sent up pinch-hitter Robbie Grossman and, with Mitch Garver at designated hitter, inserted Austin Hedges at catcher.

Hedges is a right-handed hitter, but he is really struggling. Bochy pinch hit for him later in the game and will continue to do so when the Rangers need offense.

The Rangers could switch things up with Sam Huff returning from Triple A Round Rock to be the third catcher. They could call on Round Rock righty hitters Blaine Crim, Sandro Fabian, Davis Wendzel or Justin Foscue, none of whom have ever played in the majors.

The Rangers recently signed veteran infielder Josh Harrison, a right-handed hitter, to a minor-league deal and sent him to Round Rock. He's a definite option. Also, the Blue Jays designated infielder Paul DeJong for assignment Saturday after going 3 for 44 after being acquired in a trade with the Cardinals.

He could be had for the prorated major-league minimum salary, and might be worth a shot.

Jankowski in the 5 hole is usually reserved with guys who have power. Plus he has been really cold for a while.
