The top five records in MLB are currently separated by a whopping half game.

""But there was a noticeable difference, a palpable difference. Higher energy, and a crisper brand of baseball overall.
“I thought we fought in every game for the most part,” said White Sox left fielder Andrew Benintendi""

anyone else sick of reading/hearing this claptrap bullshit?

What did I miss around here?

The thought I had today was Chris Getz is doing the only thing he can do. Uncle Jerry will not spend money on player contracts - because they signing can be a big waste of money. Jerry is also closing in on 90 years old. So, Getz decides to build the best minor league system he can - so when Jerry croaks - the new owner gets a young talent base and can put a winner together with opening the wallet a little.

Shout out to @Jiddy for suggesting I come back after the Sox win 30 on the season. Turns out that was a long stretch of the season. LOL

Amazing how a change of uniforms can affect a player's performance. Michael Kopech, who was sheer garbage with us, gets traded to the Dodgers, suddenly he looks like a brand new pitcher. He's only appeared in relief so far, going 8.1 innings. But he's been scoreless and has already racked up 13 Ks along with a save. And his FB recently hit 102.6 on the radar Go figure.

This was never a major league season for the Sox. They pretty much spent the year operating a major league tryout camp. I think we found out Bannister was a great hire and he has the pitching lined out for years to come. There are about 15 White Sox minor league starters who are under 24 years old and will either become ML starters - relievers or be trade bait.

The last time the Sox had a hitting philosophy, it was the Charlie Lau hitting theory - with Frank Thomas being one of the guys who loved the technique. I don't know if there is a hitting guru in baseball who would be an equivalent to Bannister on the pitching side. If there was such a guy - the Sox need to get him.

I've actually watched Sox baseball games more this year than in past years. Simply because I now have a much larger TV with access to streaming - and now I see the Sox games on the large tv instead of my laptop. Even though - the Sox are comically bad in the field - I find it to be fun. Even Brooks Baldwin (looks 13 years old) came through the minor leagues as a top fielding prospect and a high baseball IQ - on the Sox - I watched him hold the ball from the outfield while looking at home plate and never throwing the ball as the runner scored. It's like the Sox are a baseball Bermuda Triangle - as guys get on the team and regress to little league baseball.

However - long it takes - I think Getz wants to get the team down to $60 million in payroll - with a full set of long controlled pitching staff and some amount of prospect talent taking off on the MLB roster. Under Hawn and Williams, it was not they had a spending limit - but they spent so much payroll money recklessly. Then it will be time to sign some FA position players. At that time the Sox may even have young pitching talent they could trade for a position player they like.

A hearty congratulations to our Chicago White Sox. They just managed to lose their 100th game, with 31 still remaining. :what:

I think Flexan is going for the record for the number of consecutive starts ending in a loss. Flexan is 19 in a row.

Dude...This sh*t is so depressing.

We're honestly not gonna hit 40 wins. I want to believe the players are doing it to spite management at this point...because how is it possible we're THIS sh*tty?

I was thinking you and Iddy both could put up Flexan type loss numbers in the MLB. As Yogi once said - You have to be pretty good to lose 20 games pitching in the major leagues.

Some young players I like (none of whom have shown to be a major league player yet).

Bryan Ramos - a really fun player - has hit hot and cold in the minors - very hot and very cold. Just learned English and yesterday became an American citizen.

Brooks Baldwin - I can't get over how young he looks - hasn't hit in MLB yet, but exceeded expectations at every spot in the minors.

Korey Lee - Lee's skills as a catcher are major league caliber - still could use some polishing at bat.

Korey Lee is better than he's shown recently. He started out good and then everything about this entire team went horribly negative, to the point that even our own fans want us to lose. We're sucking on a level so bad it's obviously affecting individual performances at this point.

These young players need a fresh new start in 2025 to fairly assess them, with all this "worst team ever" bullsh*t over and done with. Picking a good manager that would change the tone would be nice. Sadly, I have no confidence we'll do that.

I agree with that - finish out the season and give the players you're counting on a workout schedule and some goals and then give them the opportunity next year.

The Sox - also need to figure out which young starters need to be moved to relief roles. It's the bullpen that's killing the W/L record lately.

Lately? Mingo my brutha, our BP has killed this team all season. Sure, a few exceptions here and there, but for the entire year, we've had without question the worst BP in the Majors. I don't have the wherewithal to research and provide the stats, but it wouldn't shock me to learn that it just might be the worst BP in MLB history, certainly a bottom five.

Haven't been paying much attention to the standings lately, what with the Sox being so sucky and football right around the corner. But watching the sports report last night, I see the Royals beat the Guardians and go into a tie for 1st place in the division. I knew they were hanging around this season, but I didn't realize they're now in a tie for 1st place, as well as in the thick of the wildcard race in case they falter a bit. To me they have to be the team story in Baseball this year.
