Why does Grifol still have a job? What could they possibly have to lose at this point?

what they still would owe grifol.

They never actually announced the terms of his contract. I saw one article speculating his original deal was 3 years for $3 million, but who knows.

I think it would be a pretty dick move to bring in a new guy (even a current assistant manager) to be the asterisk in a potential record. (IE: Who was the manager of the White Sox when they broke the all time streak/season loss/etc record?)

Better to just let Grifol ride it out at least until they win a game...if not until the end of the season.

in any case there's no good reason he's still the mgr. either cheap ass wants his money's worth or he can't admit he's (once again) made a huge mistake.
probably doesn't really matter that much as i'm confident the next mgr will be another worthless hiring.

They fired Grifol! I bet they were waiting for the streak to end.

Good riddance...He needed to go. We're still going to be sh*tty...but man what an unlikeable dude Grifol was.

ok, i'm guessing 12 this time.

anyone else?

It's (sadly) probable that we get swept by both the Yankees and Astros...but I would bet we get a win vs either SF or, at worst, Detroit. So that would be the 9-15 range.

I mean...It's baseball...so I want to believe we should win 1 out of 4 just by default and find a win or two vs NY and/or the Astros...but this team has proven it just does not play by the typical averages so the worst must be expected.

sad IS the word.
the team i grew up watching and sticking by faithfully since 1955 was poisoned in 1981. even tho a championship did happen (i attribute it to the blind squirrel syndrome) the shambles this team is in has left me so disgusted i can no longer consider myself a fan. i WAS a fan! i have the memories of al lopez, billy pierce, nellie fox, little looie, baines, fisk, melton, may, peters, john and many more, but now that organization is gone. i sincerely hope this team moves. i'll still watch ... but no longer care. why should i? cause they're from chicago? so what? cause the players are hometown boys? uhhhh nope! is ANYone associated with that 'team' from chicago? doubt it.
fans have been shafted for over 40 years by one horrible excuse of an owner (bulls fans too!). a man who doesn't give one shit about them. just wants their money.
anyone who is waiting for a good manager to be hired is a fool. anyone hoping for a gm who has a clue is a fool.

A rare, and I mean RARE blowout for the Good Guys. It was only the 2nd time we reached double figures in runs scored this season, and a new high at that. I couldn't help but laugh that despite yesterday's numbers pumping up a few of the batting averages, not a single active player on the Sox roster is hitting over .244 - incredible!
