The end of an era:

I hear they are in a lawsuit over the Guardians name - with the Cleveland Guardians Roller Derby team -which has had that name for a number of years. I didn't realize Roller Derby was still a thing. :)

How many times this past season were White Sox pitchers discovered "tipping" their pitches? How many times did the Sox figure it out themselves? It seems odd to me that Hendrik's wife figured out he was tipping pitches, but TLR and Katz didn't see it. Similar stories during the season for Kopech - Giolito - Bummer and Cease. In each case it was portrayed by the press that the pitcher figured it out themselves. I just find this very curious -with all the video - and scrutiny the Sox subject the pitching staff to - that the club didn't figure out any of this themselves. I don't recall any season where this stuck out so often.

The Data is in - the Sox should bat Grandal first - not Timmy. Read it if you're man enough to take it. :)

Just to prepare my manliness prior to reading the article, I flexed my muscles and beat the shit out of my wife. But later on she read it as well, then proceeded to flex her muscles and beat the shit out of me.

this is pretty funny. like ... roll my eyes funny. and ain't gonna happen! ESPECIALLY with the dinosaur we have a manager.
throw in some little facts like, yas has never come close to '21's obp before and his average is .355. also at 34 his .240 batting average will likely go down. plus he's not a runner ..... more a 'base clogger' in fact. this 'writer' is simply bored with the off season and is trying to stay employed.

uhhh tim WILL (and should) be the lead off hitter. end of story.

This link has nothing to do with the White Sox, but it's still worth reading the career perspective of who many consider the greatest player of all time, the Bambino:

We almost forget that Babe was the original Shohei Ohtani. One can only imagine how many homers he would have smashed in his career if he didn't spend 6 seasons primarily as a pitcher, albeit a pretty damn good one at that.

RIP Lamar Hoyt dead at 66. This fellow had a period of time when he was the best pitcher in the league, IMO.

Going down the back half of that crazy '83 season, there simply wasn't a better pitcher in all of baseball.

I think this is a pretty decent example of versatility (excerpt from Sox Machine):

According to Baseball-Reference, in 2021, Garcia hit .267/.335/.376 with a 96 OPS+ and was worth 2.1 WAR. It was also a pretty even spread of games played six different positions.

  • 277.2 innings at second base
  • 235 innings in right field
  • 164.1 innings in center field
  • 156.1 innings at shortstop
  • 110.2 innings in left field
  • 74 innings at third base
Also, can’t forget Garcia providing one of the 2021 season’s brightest moments, hitting a three-run homer in Game 3 of the ALDS.

While the signing of Leury Legend hardly strikes up the band that would also have Sox fans proclaiming 2022 WS Champs, he does bring an old shoe fit type of comfort to the ballclub. He's dependable if nothing else. I have no problems at all with him remaining a Good Guy, but I trust we all prefer that he remains the team's player-at-large, so to speak.

I love this guy, but TLR loves to play him too often IMO.

Well, in fairness, some of it - not all, but some - was due to the load of injuries a number of our key players suffered, often for lengths of time. If most of these guys keep their IL time down to a reasonable level, Garcia shouldn't come all that close to duplicating his amount of game time. That is of course assuming he's not the clear cut starter at 2b.

Hahn held a presser to announce the resigning of a utility player and during the presser said the trade market is slow right now… I’m reading between the lines but sound like JR doesn’t want to spend. He’d rather give up assets. Just dumb

You can't trade for guys because you don't know how many years of control you will have for guys who have had MLB service time, or even guys who haven't - depending on how it will be counting in the next agreement. If you have some trade targets - it probably also would be nice to see what shape they show up to spring training in prior to trading for them.

I personally believe the Sox were surprised at how the rest of baseball went after the FA class prior to the lockout. Pants down.

At this point the Sox are putting a lot of pressure on Jimenez, Robert, Moncada, Grandal and Abreu to up their games in order to carry the Sox into the next season.
