Uh oh...........add Ethan Katz to the Jiddy Will Hate Forever List. He joins:
Yasmani "Intangibles" Grandal

I just want you to know...I want to post posts that would rock Yasmani Grandal's ancestor's graves at this point...but I refrain. For you LSD. For you.

Injury updates, altho you guys may already be aware:

Luis Robert is back on the roster, turns out he was only on the Covid watch list, not the full 10 day IL. That's the good news.
The bad? Garrett Crochet was placed on the 10 day IL. If there's a ray of sunshine to this it's due to a back strain, nothing at all to do with his throwing arm.

*Don't look now, but the Good Guys have the 2nd greatest run differential, with a +31, second only to the Dodgers +36. Do greater RDs determine the best records? Not necessarily, in fact, just ask the 2005 World Champion White Sox, whose +96 RD was good for only 7th best in the game that season. But generally speaking, when it's all said and done, the highest RDs lend to the best records. So we can definitely say this is a good trend.
*Ok, the season is barely 15% completed, but still, would anyone have guessed that the Giants lead the NL West, even if by only a half game? They're doing something right over there in Bagdad by the Bay. And KC continues to lead our division. Whuda thunk.
*Despite Abreu having a crappy start to his season, at least by his standards, our resident RBI machine nonetheless lurks in 5th place and only 3 RBIs behind the AL's leader.
*In AL team stats, we're 3rd in hitting, 4th in runs scored, 6th in ERA. So why are we only 4 games above .500 at this point? Maybe it's due to being dead last in fielding pct.
*Rodon's 0.72 ERA is off the charts, yet it's bested by KC's Danny Duffy's 0.39 and the Mets Jacob DeGrom's 0.51 - is 2021 the Year of the Pitcher?

The problem with the Royals will prove to be no depth. Which is why the leaders in baseball division races tend not to last as the leaders at the end of the season. Sox are up on the Twins by 5 games or more.

True Story: If Grandal was hitting 1-4 regularly, these numbers would all be significantly sh*ttier...Our record would be worse too. God it's nice not to have a complete dipsh*t for a coach...

LOL -this is a random has hell thought - I keep watching baseball on the screen and think something is missing. The other day I identified what's missing. You don't see random hot dog wrapping paper blowing across the field anymore.

Speaking of totally random thoughts, not sure if any of you ever watch the NBC TV series Manifest. I don't, but my wife does. I couldn't help but notice that one of the leading actors of the series is J.R. Ramirez:

Or is this Lucas Giolito pulling double duty?

I was wondering if I needed to start thinking of the Royals as a good team. Every year in baseball a couple teams are good you don't expect (Giants, Royals?) and a couple are bad you don't expect (Twins, Rays?)

I'm just thinking they are good, but thin - especially with starting pitching. Duffy, however, is having a remarkable year - having given up only 1 run last month.

I felt that along with the Sox, KC made the greatest effort in the Central at improving their team in the offseason. A bit under the radar in their signings and trades, but you could see them piecing together a competitive roster.

If the starting pitching holds up - these Sox can win with small ball - even with 2/3's of the outfield in the training room.

Way too soon to write off the season man
Don't think any of us are writing off the season, especially considering we play in the rather weakish Central. But it's awfully hard to mask our disappointment when two of our youngest and most exciting players will miss the vast majority of the season, if not all of it. And I asked a while back if anyone here can remember the last time we've been hit with so many friggin injuries. It really does take the wind out of our sails.

Reynaldo Lopez had surgery on both eyes the other day. I can see the comeback pitch now - Lopez is ready for the bigs again because now he can see.
