I don't like the start of this season, but we are only 11 games in - and we have yet to see Anderson - who is the catalyst to the offense -have an at bat. Plus there isn't any other team showing much in this division. Drama Queens - much?
drama queens? really? we're not happy. one key member is out for the season. madrigal is disappointing the hell outta me both in the field and at the plate. robert looks to be a very slow learner who doesn't have a good feel for where the plate is and we HAVE seen anderson (15 ab's .200). moncada looks like his best season is behind him already and abreu is not getting any younger. vaughn is struggling. the only guys hitting are guys we KNOW aren't nearly as good as their averages appear. the pen is not anywhere near the quality we thought and at least one big cog (crochet) looks like he's not ready for the big leagues yet and what's wrong with bummer. you wanna call it being a drama queen, fine. i call it being justified at this point for feeling like we do.
we all know it's 11 games. nobody is throwing in the towel.

Our 9:

One of the best looking prospects we've had in years: .227

Last year's MVP: .209

Guy we traded one of the best pitchers in baseball for who is a never-ending "future MVP" sports article: .179

Guy touted as an old school high contact/batting average/OPB guy: .219

Superstar catcher with already low expectation .240 career batting average: .154

Best position player on the team: Out...thankfully only for a short time...God knows we need him.

Home Run/RBI guy with massive potential: Out for basically the season

The other 2 spots: Thank God for Yermin Mercedes and to a lesser degree Eaton or this would be a complete disaster rather than a pleasant "hey, it's not so bad...I'll take this" meeting of expectation.

Setting our two big injuries aside...The position players that we are counting on to carry us to the promised land are all playing like sh*t. Not one or two of them...The vast majority are playing at best, average, but most are playing significantly below average.

Don't even get me started on our fielding.

If it wasn't for our starting pitching, this forum could be burning down right now.

I anticipate us to turn it around certainly...because I've been sold the talent bill of goods and they were actually enjoyable/competitive last year. But the numbers? What we've actually been shown in production thus far in 2021? Absolutely Terrible. There's no two ways about it. Stop being terrible...Simple story.

Me: You're a drama queen

Drama Queens: I'll show you drama

As bad as everything is - these Sox have given away about 2 games and should have a record of 7-4 - which would lead the division. I'm not happy either, but I'm sober about it.

Hey man...I'm all aboard once we have, you know, more than half our players not toe'ing the Mendoza line and aren't the Bad New Bears in the field.

Should be all fixed up by next Tuesday. ;)

Only thought I have is that we're better than our record...but we aren't as good as I'd hoped we'd be. Major chinks in the armor.
I think what Jiddy said here might best sum up the collective feelings regarding our boys at this juncture, and that's even taking into account tonite's no hit gem by Rodon.

But OTOH, look at some of the really gawd awful performances to date, to wit: many on the team not even hitting their weight, a bullpen pitching way below expectations, a 3rd rate defense so far, then to wrap it up, the injury bug has hit us consistently.

And yet we sit at .500

Most, if not all of the negatives are quite correctable and really should be easily correctable (the defense? Maybe, maybe not).

Glass half full boys, half full.

This is how I see things. I also agree with @Jiddy that prior to the season - I thought the Sox were World Series contenders and even if the Sox hit like I think they should - I don't quite see them at that level now.

The Starters have come through - the Bullpen has smoothed out a little with Marshall - Kopech and Heuer, but no errors in 3 straight games is the best news to me because it shows much better concentration on the game.

FFS...Of course after seeing 6 runs dropped in the first I jump all over getting some beauty sleep and wake up to a goddamn no-no, almost perfect game.

Rodon? Wow.

I ain't even joking. After watching most of the rest of the game this morning (and I know a no-hitter is a good, happy thing) I'm miffed that Abreu's play isn't going to go down in Sox history the same way that Wise's catch did for Buehrle's perfect. That sh*t was one of the best plays by a White Sox player I've seen in a long time. Dude literally contorted his body in a dangerous, injury-risking way for his teammate's glory in a an absolutely no need way as the game was well in hand. Sacrificed it all for a teammate...and then dipsh*t Rodon pisses it all away by throwing the ball on a guy's foot. FFS...Not like that...

Either way...I, along with Pepperidge Farm, will always remember Mr. Abreu.

Post of the month. I came here to address Abreu's play on Defense - especially the no-hitter saving play at first - and Jiddy beat me to it - and described it better than I ever could. Jiddy is a drama queen - with skills. :)

I have to get back to Mercedes. How much fun is this guy? He plays like he is having fun out there and it makes the game fun. Then after Rodon got his no-no - there's Mercedes hopping the dugout railing and rushing out on the field to join the celebration. His HR swing is sick and his two strike adjustments are top of the profession skillful. He may save the season all by himself.

It is too cold for the usual Sox HR power to come into play at Guaranteed Rate field. Once the summer heats up and it brings a consistent wind off the lake - I expect the bats to start booming for the rest of this team.

Oh yeah...The Mercedes bomb was so great. LOL...They kept showing it over and over and over. Nothing better than a happy fat guy hitting dongs.

We still have the makings of a WS contender, but our hitting has to come around, the BP has to live up to its hype, and if we can even just get average to slightly above average D, we can put together a killer ballclub. Because with our starters, this team can do it. Need to eliminate those ifs.

I wish I would have bet money - prior to the season opener - that the two White Sox stars in April would be Carlos Rodon and Yermin Merecedes. This baseball is a funny game.....

Lynn placed on the 10 day IL, retroactive to yesterday. He becomes the 80th player for the Sox to be placed on the IL this season.

It's more of a "When you do something of note as a White Sox, I'll recognize you...but I'm not being sold a bill of goods on an open palm" list.
