I'm actually quite shocked that this is a common belief by people outside of New York... as a jet fan.... as a pessimistic jets fan... I hate the idea of trading for Rodgers... assuming they give up at least a first round pick for him...

getting him is a win now move... playoff or bust... I am not at all convinced getting Rodgers makes them a favorite to make the playoffs... definitely not expected to beat buffalo...

if they don't give up much, that's a whole other story... of course Rodgers is a huge upgrade from whatever they had or was going to get...

and before anyone says anything about them winning 7 games last season... if you look at the 7 games they won, it doesn't feel like they were a 7 game winner... more like a 4 game winner... and adding a QB doesn't turn a 4 game winner into a playoff team... usually...
It’s a young team with a fairly new coach. Basically everything should be better this year even without Rodgers.

The alternatives to Rodgers aren’t great right now, and I don’t think a Rodgers deal would hurt them much for future years.

The good news for the Jets is that their future looks good regardless.

So I'm sure that most of you in this thread already know this, but I thought it was crazy when I heard the stat that the Jets haven't had a 4000 yard passer since Joe Namath in 1967. That is until I found out the Bears have never had one. Sorry Joe. Seems crazy that this is even still possible with the way the game has been played for the last 20 years and I thought for sure that Cutler would have done it with the Bears, but nope. Interesting that in Namath's two "best" seasons he had 45 touchdowns and 55 interceptions. I had no idea how awful he was as it was before my time. He has this reputation as being this prolific passer, but for his career he had 173 touchdowns and 220 interceptions. He had a losing record as a starter at 62-63-4. How the hell is he in the Hall of Fame? Apparently just predicting your Super Bowl win and being a really charismatic guy goes a long way with the selection committee because I don't see any other reason. As far as the Bears go, shout out to Erik Kramer.

sure it looks good... but Saleh reminds me too much of rex Ryan... maybe not exactly how they coach, and no Saleh may not love feet(or maybe he does)... but he was inept at coaching the offense... made the Zach Wilson situation look even worse than it was( and it was already terrible)...

on one hand, Rodgers coming to the jets would probably save Saleh... because Rodgers will control the offense... not Saleh... which is a good thing... might actually let Saleh grow into the HC role easier and faster...

But that is the best case scenario...

SPN's Adam Schefter reports Austin Ekeler "is requesting permission" to seek a trade after contract extension talks with the Chargers fell through.

Ekeler is more than just a good friend of the fantasy community, is it turns out he's also one of the top running backs in the league. Heading into the final year of a four-year contract that he signed in 2020, Ekeler carries a cap hit of $6.5 million next season but is hoping to secure a long-term extension. With the Chargers appearing unwilling to pay the soon-to-be 28-year-old running back, it's possible the two sides are heading for a split. A legitimate three-down threat, Ekeler rushed for 204-915-13 last season while adding another 107-722-5 on a career-high 127 targets. He should have a few productive years ahead of him, but is quickly approaching the age where running backs tend to decline.

Appearing on The Pat McAfee Show Tuesday, Aaron Rodgers said his intention is "to play and play for the New York Jets."

After first explaining where babies come from and then getting into the known history of the early universe, Rodgers finally stated his intentions. He said the holdup is compensation talks between the Jets and Packers, and that it is out of his hands at this point. That part is clearly true. Rodgers also claimed he was "90 percent" leaning toward retirement before his now-infamous darkness retreat, but that he was jolted into wanting to return after emerging and finding the Packers wanted to trade him. Sure, whatever. The takeaway is that Rodgers wants to play in 2023 and the only team that currently wants him is the New York Jets. It is going to happen soon rather than later.

Do the words diva and 'piece of work' come to mind every yr at this time with Rodgers ?

Well, ain't that a bag of worms - especially since the Jets seem to bending over (and taking it up the arse) signing guys from his wish-list. The drama must never end in the 'darkness'. .... is it just ego that he wants to hear his name 10,000 times in the off-season and keep people guessing ?

Posted something similar on the Free Agent thread.... There was also a quote that Rodgers never OFFICIALLY asked for a trade. i think the Patriots rumor is made up. But man is he a tool if it isnt.

Gotta get this off my chest cause this whole Rodgers thing is pushing my buttons....

On local sports talk radio they were discussing whether Bears fans would want Rodgers out of the division or not. The one host was all in favor of having him stay to exact revenge by beating him...

Ok....

Does anyone think for 1 minute that Rodgers EVER thought to himself, gee, i sure wish the Bears, Lions and Vikings were better to make these wins more competetive.

NAY!!!!

NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith believes the league is "taking a stand" on not signing Lamar Jackson in order to prevent quarterbacks from getting fully guaranteed contracts.

Or, ya know, it could be that his style is sure to lead to a very short NFL career, full of quarter, half or fully missed seasons (as its already started to become) and no one wants to guarantee 40 million a year for that. Maybe??

And he still can't throw the ball all that well, although he has gotten better

As we are getting closer and closer to the draft and all the talk lately is that the Texans might not take a quarterback with the #2 pick, unless Bryce Young is still there, I just keep thinking how much Lovie Smith screwed them in week 18 last year and it cracks my ass up.

It's always interesting to see the 'news' coming out the day before the draft. .... guys moving up, sliding down, and the one nobody cares to talk about anymore. ..... just cracks me up on some the speculations coming about in the 11th hr - of course they always 'come from reliable sources'.

Right? hell you can't even beleive words spoken directly by GM's coaches, let alone "reliable sources" at this time of year. George Paton said just yesterday, "Jerry Juedy will be with us going forward"..I don't buy it for a second. If he will, why aren't you picking up his option?
