is it not weird that Allen's efficiency metrics dropped and Jones' popped when Daboll switched from BUF to NYG?

And i suppose this is the gist of my point.
GM's are always clamoring for the top free agent or the top college recruit... yet when you look at teams in recent years like the Fins, Giants, Falcons and Jets.... it cant be a fluke these teams are being competetive without a whose-who of playmakers.

If you get the right coaches, they can turn a team around.

They already had Peyton, now they have Payton . Maybe if they play on Monday night football though, Peyton can do some critiquing of Payton.

Don't forget they also have Paton, who Payton will push out soon, whether new ownership takes advice from Peyton or not

Even from the fantasy side of things, we look at offseason additions and subtractions. Pretty sure no one was clamoring for any Jets or Falcons offensive players.

Maybe i am alone in this but how many times do we see teams load up on playmakers only to be mediocre? Just my opinion but ATL and NYJ proved you can improve (or at least be competetive) without breaking the bank.

Atlanta spent two first round picks on pass catchers. One of them stinks and it's moronic to draft a wr/te hybrid at 5, but it's not like they spent nothing.

This probably wont get a lot of traction since the Bears were the worst team in the league, however, with a team devoid of elite players, i do believe Eberflus did a decent job.

I realize finishing 32nd with a 3-14 record doesnt seem like the head coach was successful, but 7 of those 14 losses were 1-score games. Plus i do feel OC Getsy had to figure out what he had in Fields for the first 5 or 6 games before the offense was tailored around his skillset.

You can stay close with that QB running middle school offense, but you'll rarely win any of them against a team with a real offense that will outscore you on last possessions. Gotta pass in this league.

Also consider that no team took their game with the Bears all that seriously. Not trying to pile on lol.

Just out of curiosity how happy are you going to be if they trade Fields and take one of the rookie quarterbacks at #1?

Seems idiotic to me. Fields still has upside higher than any Chicago QB in 50 years - unless you want to count Cutler who immediately stopped being elite when he left Denver. Banking on Stroud or Young instead seems really foolish to me.

Fields is 25th in passer rating but 17th in (the somewhat mysterious) QBR. He's not going to get any worse as a passer (unless he gets the yips).

He could. Defenses have seen him now. Is he going to work on his passing mind in the offseason as much the defensive coaches will? I have my doubts.

Jalen Hurts didn't just sit back on his athleticism between years one and two. He learned how to be a real QB. The defensive coaches that saw him last year weren't ready for the upgraded version.

Thats the topic of conversation here in the Windy City. Is it Justin as a passer (yet he was proficient in college)? Is it the O-line not giving him enough time for routes to be run? Or is it the weapons? (Bears O-line graded terrible on passing downs.)

Me personally, i think its the passing O-line and the OC Getsy. Not sure he's the best coach for Justin to progress. I like that Getsy adapted the gameplan tho... my praise ends there.

I"ve finally begun watching the 'every play' game 'film' of the higher end prospects of this years draft. of course did Bijan Robinson first. came away going, mehh..the dude reminds me of Josh Jacobs, much better than average, but I wouldn't go so far as to say he's truly special. Checked out the NFL combine player profile..Lance Zuerlien's NFL comparison- Josh Jacobs..I'll be damned
