The Raiders took Conner Cook in the fourth round. Interesting. Any guesses as to why they'd use a mid-draft pick for a backup QB like that?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I'm good with it keeping not Dallas and KC away from him - the same two teams who also wanted Lynch.

who they got now? carr mcgloin gilbert....not exactly hof'ers....

They're all in with Carr as their starter though. Trading up for what is unlikely to be more than a backup QB for them is a head scratcher. But they've appeared to have had a solid draft otherwise, so a player who is unlikely to be a major factor anytime soon...no big deal.

Essentially this is the Ron Wolf influence. Take a midround QB and hope in a few years he develops and you can trade him for better value.

My first glance is the Raiders really helped themselves with this draft - still too young to be expected to crash deep into the playoffs - and we will see if the talent jells.

And/or it turns into a Oz situation where Carr is just good enough but not enough to pay franchise money to. Right now like Elway said there is not middle class for QBs and it will be harder to find QBs as the age of the existing population of QB is getting close to retirement age in the NFL.
