It is preseason. Did we really play for the win? Mays had a great game considering the drops. Browser not so much. The o-line did a pretty good job but we are two tackles away from being a good offense. Rookie receivers looked good but the drops remind us that they are rookies and their best years are in the future. The defense looked good unti the 4th quarter. Our 3rd stringers ain’t all that. Half the defense on the field in 4th will be gone in a week

I believe we still have a good D, probably above average in top 16. Special teams also look improved. Looking forward to at least competing in games and maybe surprise some teams.

We potentially have a top 5 defense.
I'll be waiting and watching all week for the waiver wire to drop 2 all-pro tackles in our lap!

There were 7 OT's, 1 OL and 1 C taken in the first round. Pretty important position.

However, ESPN's Bill Barnwell noted for a piece published Monday that the Patriots were responsible for what was, statistically speaking, arguably the league's best defense from Week 10 through Week 18 of last season.

"They allowed 1.3 points per drive and minus-0.12 expected points added (EPA) per play, both of which were tops in the NFL," Barnwell said of the 2023 Patriots.

Such data gives Godchaux hope that New England won't be a pushover this fall.

"We still have a really good defense," Godchaux insisted. "We’re still going to be a top-10 defense, hopefully top-five. I believe in the guys here. Of course, we’re going to miss Judon. We’re going to miss [defensive tackle Christian Barmore], but at the end of the day, the next guy has to step up. It’s an opportunity for them."

Do we or did we? All teams strive to improve on both sides of the ball, we lost Judon, Barmore and I am not convinced Gonzo is all people are making him out to be. Isn't our D-Coordinator also a rookie to that role? Ill pass on claiming we have a top D for now

When the stats show up we'll know.

So far, they are as good as any D in the league. Then again that's measured by the Patriots scrubs and backups vs everyone else's scrubs and backups..
