Interesting statement by Cam:

He threw a redzone interception to a guy over the middle with Agholor wide open in the corner. When asked about it?

“It was third down, we were down by four, and it was a chance. Rather than taking a sack you have to take chances, and that’s what it was, a chance in the end zone,” said Newton. “Given the circumstances of the play with seven seconds left, I was trying to give my guy a chance.”

So doing what's right for the team is not as important as getting ball to "his guy?"

Newton broke a golden rule though and turned the ball over in the red area. He finished a two-minute drill with a pick in the end zone, which is not ideal for Cam or the New England offense.

Per Tom Curran and Phil Perry NBC Sports Boston:

Matt Judon was outstanding. Had a pick 6 and did a forward flip into the end zon.
Adrian Phillips was immense. Broke up several passes and had multiple tackles

Patriots were taken a bit off guard by the Eagles extra hits and double hits. No fights but by the end of practice a couple of Patriots gave some payback cheap shots. Tomorrow could be a bit nasty.

Time for Concern:::

Hunter Henry "hurt" his shoulder last week and missed one practice and the game. He has not practiced since, yet the injury or 'hurt' is not serious.
Jonnu Smith twisted his ankle at practice Sunday. Not serious, but hasn't practiced and will probably not play Thursday.
Matt Lacosse got smashed because of a horrible pass by Cam and was knocked down and out for more than 30 seconds.

Looks like Asiasi and Keene will be the TEs on Thursday night.

A shorter practice today for the Patriots and Eagles ends after 1 hour, 20 minutes. Mac Jones’ TD pass to TE Devin Asiasi in his final red-zone drill, on play-action, had him fired up. Jones pumped his fist, pointed to Cam Newton, and the two leaped into the air in celebration.

All indications are that both teams are in a "stand down" mode until the game on Thursday night.

The Eagles are trying to become "The Intimidators". They tried it in Pittsburgh last week and lost. They tried it Monday and got it back. My guess is that they intend to do it again Thursday. They started smack talking after practice today and K'Von Wallace, a second year safety called Cam, "The Checkdown King". Another Eacles DB said that Cam couldn't make the passes downfield and threw everything short to RBs and made their day easy.

I hope that Cam doesn't try to prove them wrong when they play Thursday. Scares the bejezuz out of me to think he would even consider trying to connect 30-40 yard passes. Just throw 5-6-7 yards to the RBs and frustrate the DBs and bring them up close and pound the shit out of them with the running game. Let Mac throw the bombs, after the DL and LBs are sucking wind.

We all now that BB pretty much controls what players have to say to the media. Listening to Patriots talking after practice yesterday was like listening to record for the thirty third time. Meyers, Cam, Mac, Mills and Karras gave milk-toast interviews.

Then came the Eagles. Patriots are easy to figure out. Not concerned about the Patriots receivers. Pats WRs aren't as fast as the Eagles' secondary. Nothing like giving Bill some shit to stick up on the bulletin board. Hey guys. It's the second preseason game of 2021 and you're 0-1 and the Patriots are 1-0 and it was against the Washington Whatthefucks, a team you couldn't beat in 2020. Really have a lot to say for a team that finished 4-12 last year.

SO let me get this right. The NWS doesn't want to be 100% wrong so they predict the best and warn of the worst. That way they can say, "We warned you."

A look at radar shows a front coming but no way it gets there by game time. If it did (it won't) it would be raining on saturated ground left by Fred. Hence, possibility of flooding.

I did my off day mile and a half walk this morning and it started raining. Nothing serious, not even steady. It's totally overcast and the wind is picking up. My four bird feeders are all occupied so my feathered non-eagle friends haven't gone to shelter yet.

Been watching the Steelers/Eagles game from last week. Eagles have a completely new coaching staff. Looks like they're trying to instill a new culture. The younger guys are buying in, but the vets may be having a bit of a hard time buying it. The first team looked very good against the Steelers and had them 13-0 when the back ups started getting in. The Steelers' back ups were better than the Eagles and outscored them 2-3 through the 2nd and 3rd quarters. and played even 3-3 in the final quarter. Final was 24-16.
