Matt is a professional now, so I forgive him for distancing from us. He still checks in from time to time.

11704 probably just took the off season off. He is a senior member of our clique, so there is a possibility of the “worst case scenario”, I assume, but I trust we will see him back in a month or so.

SFGRTB has now been gone for almost 2 years. He was a real asset, and I miss him. I assume he has just entered post-college life and moved on. Best wishes to him.
SFGRTB's departure was sudden. He was posting during spring training and, I think, a week into the start of the season and suddenly was gone. Makes my mind go down worst care scenarios. Hopefully, its just a matter of not having the time any longer.

I feel you. But I want to avoid worst case scenarios without some other reason/evidence.

When I have some extra time on my hands, I find myself going back to old threads on this forum, to ready past season GDTs, see who was around, and just generally wonder down memory lane (and see what I missed while I lingered off and on at the ESPN boards and tried to avoid this forum). I did find some additional poster names and added them to my list. I also did some surface statistical analysis. The numbers below are by no means complete. They are simply a compilation of what I've found so far.
What you fill find below are 4 different numbers for each year since the migration here. The first represents the number of new posters added that year, the second represents the number of posters who ceased posting to this team forum, the third represents the number of posters who ceased to visit this site completely and the fourth represents the total number of posters still active somewhere on this site who at least occasionally posted on this team forum.
2010 - 34; 3; 0; 34
2011 - 21; 3; 5; 50
2012 - 4; 8; 4; 50
2013 - 9; 11; 4; 55
2014 - 3; 8; 10; 48
2015 - 3; 10; 11; 40
2016 - 2; 3; 5; 37
2017 - 0; 4; 4; 33
2018 - 2; 3; 2; 33
2019 - 0; 4; 2; 31
2020 - 0; 0; 0; 31
2021 - 1; 5; 9; 23
2022 - 0; 2; 2; 21
2023 - 1; 3; 4; 18 (This is assuming MarcoPolo, Mays-Fan and pachyderm have left for good)

Okay, one more set of numbers. These numbers are looking at the 3 WS championship seasons, specifically, who stopped posting in those seasons just before the WS and who left the site just before the WS:
2010 - 3; 0
2012 - 6; 3
2014 - 6; 7

Obviously I’m extremely biased, but man those were some fun times.

Here is what I found interesting is that the number of posters actually peaked in 2013. I had assumed that the number dwindled from the beginning but it wasn't until 2014 when the size started going down. Seems weird to me it would be that year and not 2015 (or 2016).

And what Giant fan cannot say that time period wasn't fun? And here on the forum, there were a lot more regulars so that kept things humming here. Out of the 18 still active on this site, 5 of them don't post at all in the Giants' forum any longer (some have posted since 2016 or earlier). From the remaining 13, another 4 are very sporadic in their postings and I'm counting the newbie for now in that group of 13. That leaves about 8 of us who are regulars on here (you, Stokes, cal, msg, Sandisfan, stanford, tzill and myself).

New ownership in 2014 turned off a lot of the regs like gp956, ColinCoby, myself and others. But I think in fairness, message boards in general started dying around then.

Honestly I don't really see any difference when the site gets a new owner

Hammer was different from Ghost. And Shaggy is different from Hammer. If you only post here (which I think was your habit before somewhat recently), you wouldn’t see these differences, but the differences are pretty drastic.

I branched out to the NBA and PF boards a few years back but honestly, haven't seen any difference, it's still posting with memes and gifs, I wouldn't know who owned the site unless I hear about it from posts like this ^^^

It is all about politics and who gets the ban. Ghost, iirc, never banned anyone. Hammer would pick fights with people then ban them if they swung back (he was just joking, and the other guy crossed the line in his response, obviously). Shaggy appears to be somewhat absentee, and lets his subordinates basically run the place. If you have beef with any of those subordinates, you are pretty much fucked.

Apparently, I spend too much time on this forum. Now you all are invading my dreams. Last night I dreamt that a few of us gathered at an airport (I think the one in Sacramento) to hang out in real life. cal, for some reason, you had a mullet going. A couple of posters ended up being fresh out of high school (which was true for a couple of former members, about 10 years ago). tzill and Stokes decided to skip out on the meet and greet.

I had a kinda-mullet in college, so I guess there is SOME psychic power on display here, but I have been close-cropped for almost 30 years now, so this meeting must have taken place a LONG time ago.

I think @filosofy29 was in his early 30s in this dream, so I don't know. Just odd that I suddenly have a dream about you all after about 15 years of interaction online.

Seeing you in my dreams would be terrifying. A 5’4”, 275 lb pimpled ginger with coke bottle glasses spitting on everyone with every use of the “th” sound is horrific.
Sure, but I've got a SOLID IQ of 99
