but then again ... we were neck in neck with the Chiefs who very well could be representing the AFC in the Bowl

i agree with the philosophy of building through the draft

& making solid addition in free agency such as Swearinger & Brown

but I also believe there will come a time when a team who is set to make that final push to break the threshold to get to that next level should make a move for that additional talent to push them over the edge.

One good game doesnt mean we blew it on him. He was 3rd string in NO and MINN didnt want him. Lets see how he does next couple games before thinking we blew it. However, for the record.. he doesnt make us any better. We have servicable RBs on this team. Petersen at this time in career isnt an Elliot. Why waste a pick.

Its only a 6th round pick maybe Hyde would cost a 5th. You make the move b/c both guys will make our team better. Why? Both have more talent then we have now. So what if its a half year rental, if the move helps us win then I am for it. Plus you don't know if that guy will be resigned next year.

6th an 7th round picks usually get released if you have a good team. Of course there are exceptions but I thought Petersen was worth it. You have to respect him when he is in the game.

Come on Dean, if it wasnt AP, you would have never even mentioned it. Even the thought of trading for him is a Dan/Vinny 101 type move. Bringing in AP would mean taking carries away from Perine and Kelly when ever he gets healthy. For a 12 game rental. We have gotten past the signing of declining players based on the fact that they were at one point dominant at their position.

Again, it is a single game. It was a surprise he played immediately and once adjustments took place, he was contained.
