The last week of the season will be very interesting as there are 3 interesting playoffs races going on.

1) Who can avoid the 6th seed in the East? In other words, the race to avoid Cleveland. Miami, Milwaukee, & Washington all tied at 42-36.

2) Race for the final 5 spots in the west. 7 teams fighting for 5 spots. 3 games separates 4th and 10th.

3) Race for 3rd in the East. Cleveland and Philly both with 30 losses. They play Friday night

Hard to avoid them when you can't be certain what seed they will be. Think Cleveland might just prefer the 4. We shall see.

Thing is all those 3 teams are basically too far out to get 5 so if Miami/Washington really want to, they can rest their players just to ensure they get 7 or 8.....I know Miami will never do this but I can see the Wizards doing it

Cause of Kyrie's status for the 1st round, I assume the 7 seed is what all 3 teams would prefer.

The West race is the most interesting IMO.

OKC 45-34 (AT HOU, AT MIA, VS MEM)
MIN 44-34 ( AT DEN, AT LAL, VS MEM, VS DEN)
NOP 43-34 ( VS MEM, AT PHX, AT GSW, AT LAC, VS SAS)
DEN 43-35 ( VS MIN, AT LAC, VS POR, AT MIN)

Those Denver Minnesota games are going to be great!

OKC better be very careful.

I could see a situation where all 4 teams end at 46-36 which would be a hot mess lol

I think Minny or Denver will miss.

The Clippers are out of it...imo

I'm just happy we will finish .500 or better.

Jokic is a fricking monster.

So, I think @tlance is correct that those head to head games could be the difference out West.

Teams that will face the Blazers have a slight advantage also because Portland will be without Dame.

Pelicans might slide in because the Warriors have nothing to lose/gain everybody else , sans Spurs, have nothing to play for.

So, they could rest guys.

Anyone who's watched OKC this season knows they're in trouble.
-only hold the tiebreaker with a couple of teams.
-PG13 has proven he's at best robin
-Roberson was there defense
-the bench is one of the worst in the league
-the offensive system is horrible
-Donovan is a puppet
-Mello can be a team player
-Westbrook is a one man gang

And lastly first round exit.

Regardless of outcome of the season, do you think the Thunder make any significant moves in the off-season?

They can't. PG13 leaves. Mello opts in. That leaves them with no money and no players anyone would want except Westbrook and Adams. The only move would be a total rebuild.

Tough situation they are in. The biggest problem they have is that there are just too many one dimensional players on the roster.

-Roberson is a GREAT defender, but a total liability on offense. He would be perfectly suited for a 5th starter 25 minute a game role. Thunder need him for more than that because of the lack of depth.

-Melo is a good scorer, but a terrible defender and not being utilized to maximize his offensive impact (nor should he be given his struggles with efficiency).

-Adams is a terrific role player, but limited with what he can bring offensively.

It seems like all the bench guys are either scorers or defenders, but they don't have anybody who can do both. George is the only legit 2 way player on the team, but his offensive role is pretty limited too at times. He has turned into a catch and shoot guy and he doesn't seem to attack nearly as often as he used to. Since his shot is broken at the moment, that is a bad look.

The team was built to have cupcake. Olidipo was supposed to be the 6th man. They were mislead. The move to trade for PG and Mello was a desperation move by Presti. He felt he needed to bring in some big names. He took a risk and it failed. They were screwed either way.

Failed?

Depends on how you look at it.

Presti had to get Westbrook to commit.

That was his top of season priority.

These hail Mary trades made that happen.

Having a contending team would have just been gravy.

You get it. They went all in on the team they had. cupcake told them he'd stay. They traded Ibaka because he had value and the got a great deal. But only if he stayed. He made GS unbeatable and took out one of the biggest threats at the same time.

def. no guarantee the Cavs are the third seed.

It will likely come down to that game against Philly.

Teams should be really trying for #7 to get an injured Boston team- a team that is built more for the regular season than the playoffs in reality anyway even if healthy.

Yeah I'm praying the Heat get Boston. Feels like the perfect match-up for us due to their current situation but bad thing for us is we own both tiebreakers with Milwaukee & Washington plus our remaining schedule is ass lol. The only team we have left that will try to win is OKC
