Yep, John Brodie, Kezar Stadium and the early Dallas heartbreaks are all permanently lodged in what ever is left of my memory.

And the Rams used to beat us every year. The first victory I ever experienced against them was a 20 to 6 49er victory in the Colliseum in 1970 with Brodie at the helm. It is still etched in my mind.
I saw a picture of Kezar on the net somewhere the other day and I guess I'd forgotten how crappy the seating was there. Always seemed great to me as a kid.

The salary cap did in that sort of dominance. Teams today aren't as complete as they were in the '80s and early '90s. Expecting that sort of dominance to return is unrealistic in today's NFL, though an elite QB can get you close.

It won't for any extended period of time chiefly for the reasons you mentioned as well as the parity attempt s that are built into the schedule now. I'd like to see from the 49ers something akin to what the Steelers have done over the years in this era. That's about as close to long-term dominanace as we are going to get these days.

Precisely! I think you and I are two of only a few on this board that watched in full consciousness the entire string of greatness that began in '81. Today's 49ers are a good, well coached team, but not elite - not yet.

Easy there MW. I was there when Dwight reached up real high in the air to snag that bad boy and beat the Boys.
Ran out on the field after only to watch my buddy get run over by Keith Fanhorst on his way to the locker room. He still has the number 71 tattooed on his chest.

Traffic must have been hell that day with the over 500,000 people who claim to have been there for that game.

You were at that game! Fricken Awesome, Coffee! Funny story about your friend but I bet he wore those bruises like a badge of honor for quite some time. I know I would have.

I was ~75 miles South in San Jose, the day that Joe & Dwight and the rest of the 49ers changed everything.

I am sure traffic was bad for the 500,000 people like yourself.
For the other 62,000 there was no traffic because the entire parking lot was one big party.

Please! That is a picture on an office wall that you clean in your night janitor's job..

Can't answer the question can you? I would tell you to go over to the Giants board and ask but they banned your sorry butt over there.

:lol:A rain check? How can a person be so ignorant?
The first time threw, before the quake they ripped off the original and for the make up game they had to rip it upon entry.
A rain check?

Disagree. 170 yards of offense, a record for fultility even counting the Singletary era, nine sacks and complete domination of both sides of the line of scrimmage is emabrrassing.

Really? Harbaugh must be the worst coach ever.

Get out before someone else sees it and further exposes your folly.

Exposes my folly? You poor fool. You birth certificate is an apology from the condom factory.
I hear that when your mother first saw you, she decided to leave you on the front steps of a police station while she turned herself in.

If you ever want to know what it was like to be one of the 62,000 that saw history you just ask my boss. He can tell you all about it.
