Now that we are officially in the 2022-2023 off-season, an appropriate thread should commence. The Phillies have some decisions to make this off-season as the major weaknesses were exposed in the World Series against the Astros. Lot so FAs available to shore holes in the roster and many Pitchers available to improve our Pitching Staff going into the 2023 season.

I wonder why the Phillies continue to go dumpster diving for Pitchers. Have they not learned anything?

Maybe Thomson is the real ghost author of the Dildoes and the voting sports pundits know it.

Regardless of the 100+ win seasons of the Dodgers, Atlanta, and Houston, Thomson would have been manager of the year had he not screwed up in his decision making - in the sixth and final game of the World Series when he pulled a cruising Zack Wheeler at 70 pitches and then Jose Alvarado was taken deep by Yordan Alvarez. Just dumb, especially considering how bad Alvarado was in his previous appearance.

Per usual, you have nailed it, jvett. I think I remember responding to your post during that game that had most of us shaking our heads. It was a dumb move and hopefully he now knows it.

Man, baseball FA takes forever! If this were the NBA or NFL most of the available FAs would already have new homes. All I can think of is Rizzo and the Mets closer resigning with their clubs.

I thought the voting for those awards happened before the world series

Feel weird about this. If you told me that Eflin goes for 3 years and $40 million I would have said glad Phil’s were out on that. But it’s the Rays. That’s a head scratcher for me. They usually knock it out of the park in assessing pitching. That gives me pause. Maybe they see something in Eflin Phil’s didn’t.
