Matt Strahm's hairstyle is straight out of Relief Pitcher Digest

Also 2 years 15 mil seems a little steep for a mediocre reliever

Thought the same thing. Hopefully he’s a better version of the Brad Hand role. I think they have about 8-12 million left to spend. Would like to see them take a flyer on that money with 2 bullpen arms that are trying to redeem their value and like Knebel you sign them to a one year show me deal. One of the two works out and he becomes another back end arm you trust like Seranthony and Alvarado.

Yeah it's a crap shoot every year with the relievers. They just shift from team to team and you hope you catch them on a good year.

I call it the Rheal Cormier Principle. One year dude is lights out with a ton of holds and a low era. And the next year he comes back and struggles to get outs. Relievers are an enigma.

Thoughts on guys like Brogdan or Belatti taking a step forward for a more high leverage role in the 6th or 7th?

Yeah I could see that. Relievers are never going to be too consistent and if they are someone usually tries to make them into a starter, i.e. Ranger.

“But the most intriguing pick was the 11th, which saw the Philadelphia Phillies snag Noah Song,”

Isn’t “intriguing” just an artsy fartsy way of saying “the Phillies went dumpster diving” ?

I don’t think so. It looks like this kid has talent. It’s just the military situation that makes him risky. I don’t feel great about the choice because Boston may know something about the likelihood of him being able to get that waiver he needs to pitch this season. It’s the perfect kind of situation to take a flyer on. Minimal risk but a high ceiling on “if it hits”.

Yeah I like it though. Sometimes you get a usable player in rule 5. That's where they got Shane Victorino.

Annual cost of Strahm's contract.
Got it. Robertson just got 10 from the Mets. Cost is cost. I don’t think they overpaid for a situational lefty. If they did it’s by about 1.5-2 mil per year.

What is wrong with Dombrowski? Why in the hell does he going dumpster diving in an important area of weakness after he signs a big FA like Turner? We don't need anymore Bellatti's or another Douchebag pitcher. We need another good Pitcher to break into the starting rotation. It just is remarkable Dombrowski would sign another game-loser after it has been won like we watched all of last year.
