What did you prove? You are acting as if Detroit is better on the defensive side of the ball now or something. I agreed with you and said they would sign players on defense, because they didn't have a choice. I said they wouldn't sign any top FA's for the defense after signing Tate.

I'd say signing a safety that has been a full time starter one year in the 8 years he has played in the NFL and was ranked as the 12th best safety available out of 15 isn't setting the world on fire. Same goes with the Vaughn Martin and Daryl Tapp signings.

Also -- I don't even think they have signed Ihedbigo yet, unless I missed the announcement.

Detroit minus Delmas probably does make the Lions better on defense. He couldn't practice, and because he couldn't practice he was never really on the same page as his teammates, and therefore he was inconsistent.

If Ibehaeiouydabo can practice every week and uses his arms to tackle instead of his helmet, the D is already improved.

me: I'll take that bet as long as the average salary is $6MM or more for two players without Suh extending to free up cap room. We can sign all the league minimum backup-backups we want but they won't be starting-caliber players which is what we need.

Tapp is going to be a hell of a lot less than $6MM per season and is really a backup at this point. If we have to start him that's a bad thing.

I've read a bunch of stuff about how Taye Diggs signature move is lighting up his teammates like a crazy fuck when he's cleaning up tackles. Shorter hair, same dumb shit it sounds like.

I offered to take your bet where you said the lions would sign two DEFENSIVE FAs, with the condition that they be paid starting-level salaries, not backups (like Tapp). If you were a man and wanted to make the bet, you'd have replied, "OK". That way, both sides are responsible. You, as a puss, wanted to sit back and claim a win if it happened, and be able to wimp out as 'no bet' if it didn't.

Then, since you're a puss, you tried pretending that signing Tapp won you the bet and asked me to change my av, which did two things: Prove you can't read AND are a puss, and, more importantly, prove you accept my terms of bet, which are two players on defense with average salaries of $6MM or more, without Suh giving the team salary cap relief. Since that hasn't happened, I have shown everyone your new av and I you don't use it, we know what you are.

And no, I don't like assholes who put themselves in charge of everybody and who aren't smart enough to understand that a 'moderator' must be 'moderate' (i.e., not an opinionated asshole). This was your rep at CBS too, dude.

He's wrong. Mike said he was pissed that the Lions signed Tate INSTEAD of defensive players. I said avy bet that they sign defensive players. Then he changed his tune to "good defensive players" or "top defensive players" which is obviously something someone of my immense intelligence would never agree to.

I have no dog in this fight. I like you all, and find it laughable that there are clicks in this place. That said, I'll put on an arbiter's hat for a minute.

Swarm, Mike may not have said "good" or "top" defensive players, but he didn't simply say defensive players, either. He said he was pissed that the team signed Tate instead of filling holes on the defense, which implies a starting caliber defensive signing. Tapp and the other stiff don't qualify.

What happened to that thread that was running about the #10 pick before free agency started? I was hoping someone would start another so we could compare. I think it would show how meaningless (but fun) it is to speculate about who the team will draft before teams start filling needs with existing players. I'm guessing that there would be a few holdouts that would still want to draft offense but I have to believe the overwhelming majority would prefer defense.
