So Pettigrew is signing with the Jets and Mayhew is terrible, they resign him below market and he is terrible for that?

I agree though, he should have gotten Jimmy Graham. If he had signed graham then he would be an idiot for not spending all that money on (insert preferred position). I don't understand, I sent him my letter explaining who I wanted! the post office must have lost it.

Meh..... At first didn't want to see him go .....then I got used to the idea... Best case scenario he's only holding the place until Fauria blows up. (please lord let Fauria develop into a beast this year)

We have $8.73 left in cap room right?

No -- it is 8.73 million left in cap room. Each time the Lions sign a player, we somehow create more cap space.:laugh3:

Actually don't mind the Pettigrew signing. It isn't an exciting signing, but it fills a hole, as Fauria isn't a blocking TE and Williams, the blocking TE is slower than an OL. He will continue to give Stafford his bailout route when the WRs are covered down field, basically an extension of the running game. He knows his role and when he hangs onto the ball -- is actually a nice target for Stafford. Seemed to start catching the ball more frequently at the end of the year, so hopefully that roles over to 2014.

I haven't seen his contract, but I'm guessing he isn't getting much of a signing bonus and his cap hit will be minimal this year.

Who on earth thought that? I mean, the Mayhew being terrible part I get, but letting Pettigrew go to the Jets would actually have lessened his terribleness a little bit.

BP's cap hit this yr is only 2.5 million. So we should still have about 4.5 mil left in cap

Alright, there's a little bit of sense here. Maybe keeping him isn't the worst thing ever if the overall cap cost is minimal. Still a nightmare, though.

Earlier, when I said this was my favorite move of the week, I should have said, this was the ONLY move I liked. Fauria is just a big, slow receiver to me.(which is fine.) And Williams may never play a game in the NFL for all we know. (He's of little importance either way.) Without BP there was a huge hole. Especially for a team that has stated it wants to concentrate on the run game more than in the past.

Not a bad deal. Four mil per year for the best tight end on the market I can live with. I cant stand the guy but not sure what other option they would have had.

Not a pettigrew fan. I was hoping he was going somewhere else.
The Lions weren't going to get an all-around TE as good as Pettigrew for less money. He is on the field over 80% of the time. Good blocker, runs good routes but he just doesn't have the best hands/concentration. Overall, we needed him.

Other than adding some depth on the line and WR, the offense is done. The defense scares the hell out of me. Suh better play like he deserves a new contract (somewhere else) and Fairley just needs to play. Losing Young was a tough one. The defensive backfield is still in shambles. Houston WILL perform better than he did in the 2nd have last year and Slay is legitimate but we need players back there that can contribut immediately. Hopefully some of the young DB's emerge this year.

I think our #10 has to be used on Clinton Dix and the 2nd & 3rd round on an OLB & CB.

Dead on. Lombardi uses TE's and if BP can keep his head out of his ass he can be a huge contributor.

He uses TE's who run like WR's, not nose tackles.

Was surprised to see Joe Fauria ran .01 faster than BP in the 40. (4.82 and 4.83). Thought he was slower tbh.

We will be drafting defense in round 1 most likely. My bet would be a LB. Not sure there are any left in FA. Outside chance we go with a DB too. LB is the biggest hole right now. We dont even have 3 NFL ready players at the position and no depth behind them. DB is not too much better but at least we have some depth there.

Yeah, it's definitely going to be a player in the back 7. My guess is a trade back even to get more picks and add even more depth.

I think BP's game speed might a higher.

Come on Kreton, dude catches a pass and immediately falls to the ground as soon as anyone touches him or just gets stripped. Dude is 6'6 264 and plays like he's 5'11 190. Also runs a 4.8 40. yawn. If I was the GM I would let him walk and not lost one second of sleep. All this tells me is the Lions will be going to a power running game this year behind Bell and Bush.
