Swarm, Mike may not have said "good" or "top" defensive players, but he didn't simply say defensive players, either. He said he was pissed that the team signed Tate instead of filling holes on the defense, which implies a starting caliber defensive signing. Tapp and the other stiff don't qualify.

Hard-hitting safety James Ihedigbo expects to sign with Detroit Lions | MLive.com

Detroit is looking for a replacement to Louis Delmas, who was released and has since signed with the Dolphins.

Free agent S James Ihedigbo left Detroit without a deal, but is still expected to sign with the Lions.
Ihedigbo is currently between agents and his wife is pregnant, so he has a lot on his plate. It sounds like the Lions intend to sign him as a starter next to Glover Quin. Former Ravens DBs coach turned Lions DC Teryl Austin said Ihedigbo was one of the Baltimore's most influential defensive leaders last year. Mar 13 - 2:54 PM

Cool. Wonder if the nerd herd will ever man up? Doubtful.

We don't because you're a bitch just like you're being a bitch here. Let me explain with very small words:

I offered to take your bet where you said the lions would sign two DEFENSIVE FAs, with the condition that they be paid starting-level salaries, not backups (like Tapp). If you were a man and wanted to make the bet, you'd have replied, "OK". That way, both sides are responsible. You, as a puss, wanted to sit back and claim a win if it happened, and be able to wimp out as 'no bet' if it didn't.

Then, since you're a puss, you tried pretending that signing Tapp won you the bet and asked me to change my av, which did two things: Prove you can't read AND are a puss, and, more importantly, prove you accept my terms of bet, which are two players on defense with average salaries of $6MM or more, without Suh giving the team salary cap relief. Since that hasn't happened, I have shown everyone your new av and I you don't use it, we know what you are.

And no, I don't like assholes who put themselves in charge of everybody and who aren't smart enough to understand that a 'moderator' must be 'moderate' (i.e., not an opinionated asshole). This was your rep at CBS too, dude.

So, get over yourself and stop crying, and honor your loss.

Ya, I'm 99% sure you're a legal retard who wanders outside of the house in overalls and adult diapers. At this point I'm going to count my blessings that you didn't hack my head in two with a sling blade at whirlyball, and call it a W for Swarm.

btw Tapp was not signed to replace a starter because Willie Young wasn't a starter.

This is just like the endless nonsensical debate this board continues to get into about Ansah vs. Avril. Avril is a LE and Ansah replaced KVB, not Avril. But you see posters on this board acting like we got Ansah because Avril left. Nope. We would have drafted Ansah either way, with or without Avril, because Ansah replaced KVB at RE. But you don't see any KVB vs. Ansah posts on here, just Avril vs. Ansah.

Same with Tapp. No shit, guys. He was signed to replace Williw Young, a back up to starter Jason Jones. Jason Jones who will be back to start again in 2014.

We filled a hole and got a new starting FS to replace Delmas, and a new back up DE to replace Willie Young.

Short and sweet:

Out:

KVB
Avril
Willie Young
Delmas

In:

Ansah
Jason Jones
Tapp
Ihedigbo.

Willie Young was on the field more than any lineman outside of Suh.

Nonetheless, he was not a starter. Jason Jones was/still is. This is just like your Golden Tate argument, but in reverse.

I'm not calling him a number 1 option like you knuckleheads did with Tate though. So, no, not really like that at all. Nice try though.

Smitty, what qualifies as a number one option if leading the team in targets, receptions, yards, and touchdowns doesn't?

If CJ and Tate miss most of the season and Durham gets all those targets going his way. Then gets signed by say the Jags, would you think they've brought a #1 receiver in? (Not everyone plays video games Swarm.). Every game that Rice and Harvin were healthy, they were above Tate on the depth chart. #1 options start every game if healthy. Tate did not.

You know Harvin didn't play last year, right bro?

The Hawks won the SB with Tate and Baldin as their top WR's. Forget what the Madden depth charts teach you and go with what actually happened on the field.

Whether by default or not, Tate became the Hawks no.1 option. It's great news for Lions fans worried about not being able to stay competitive if and when CJ misses a game or two.

If Durham played the whole season and and had the best drop drop rate in the league then yes.

Could have sworn I saw Harvin score in the Super Bowl, taking his duties back on returns and starting like he was intended to. Must have been a different game with a lame halftime show, idk. If CJ goes down, we lose, Tate isn't changing that.

Young wasn't a starter when he replaced Jones, but he certainly became one. If he had re-signed here, he would have started, certainly over Jones. Tapp won't.

I don't think he will, but if Jason Jones starts for us at DE, our defense is in trouble.

Yep, I suppose that one would qualify. Then there's the issue of who actually accepted the wager. I'll leave that to you guys.

This whole bet thing is nonsense. Nobody even accepted anything(if so, provide proof please). Trustme clarified what he was talking about and rob never commented anymore about the bet until recently. Just someone stirring the pot for whatever reason.

Micro is right. No one accepted shit. I was only reacting to Nautymax's post, who had nothing to do with anything to begin with, but decided to speak for Micro and Mike. Shit is over.

I have no dog in this fight. I like you all, and find it laughable that there are clicks in this place. That said, I'll put on an arbiter's hat for a minute.
And to clarify this, there aren't any cliques either. There is a large group of us that have been getting together for the home opener weekend for years now. Each year the number has grown. And we have all become friends outside of this board. Some of us that even live closer to each other hang out often. It is what it is. If someone wants to crack jokes because of that, then that's something they need to deal with.

But this group doesn't always agree with each other for the sake of it. I can think of multiple "arguments" between guys on here. Hell, smit-tay and I had one just recently over Marquise fucking Lee. It happens. But there aren't "cliques", just guys that know each other better than others. If anyone were to join us for the opener, it'd be the same thing. We'd all have a great time and then return to disagreeing on many things Lions related on the board. ;) :suds:

Good to hear. Now who's gonna start the next thread about a WR??
