I'm told that the three remaining candidates are Willie Desjardins, Bill Peters and Ulf Samuelsson. Since Ulf looks like he's the guy in Carolina, It will most likely be Desjardins or Bill Peters. Penguins expected to make announcement of new coach in next couple days. Also look for former Lightning & Coyotes Coach Rick Tocchet to be named an assistant coach with the Penguins.

Of those names, I like Bill Peters the best.

To be honest at this point I will be happy with any coach as long as they can make game time adjustments and not rely on 35+ year old 4th line wingers.

I would be ok with that. His staff could include a guy like Tocchet, and then you have two coaches who are familiar with a tougher style of play. And between him and Willie, from afar, I think I'd rather have Ulf.

Yeah, I would take Ulf over Desjardins as well.

That's because there's no need for urgency. No matter who we hire is going to fail as a coach for the first 2-3 years. We're basically hiring a fall guy.

The Pens have made themselves a laughing stock with this coaching search. Rutherford better pull some rabbits out of his hat soon or this could damage the Pens for years not just next season.
