I've been thinking recently how little I trust the Pens 'braintrust' of Mario, Burkle, and David Morehouse.

Mario might have been a hockey player, but he has never worked in a front office in any capacity, never assembled a roster. Burkle is in no way a hockey man, and it seems like David Morehouse, essentially a career politician, is now someone who Mario and Burkle trust to run the organization.

If you read his bio, his "accomplishments" are essentially everything about the Penguins that doesn't relate to hockey ops, the corporate branding, marketing, tv ratings, sellout streak, is his responsibility. And many say that the Penguins have become too corporate to worried about the brand.

My question, does hockey ops, ie the GM, report to this guy?

Don't even want to hear about the Pens again until the draft. Hopefully now that Shero is gone we 'll look for a forward in the 1st round?

I like Briesbois, seems like a good fit. Not sure about Boucher, but I've heard good hockey people say he would be a good fit.

Ya I'm not sure he would hire Boucher I'm just going on the French connection. Steve yzerman said he would be a great gm in this league for a long time.

That's awful. There is no reason for that. You hire a GM to build a hockey team, let him do his job.

Sounds like Rutherford is just keeping the seat warm for Botteril. As far as Rutherford goes, I'm alright with it. As most people on here have said before, this team has pieces to be successful, those pieces just need to be utilized correctly, which I believe Rutherford can do (at least for a few years)
